ZBrush upgrades always include MAJOR innovations. Unlike some of the big software marketing companies (I mean 3D software companies).
Looking forward to seeing some previews.

August 2009? I’ll believe it when I see it running on my Mac!! Until then, nothing has changed. After all, it’s not like we didn’t know they are working on an update.
I’m quite sure this is just the announcement that there will be an announcement about Zbrush 5 in August 2009.
Not holding my breath.
I’m glad about the free upgrade part, but will consider it an upgrade when its on my comp running as advertised.
Also, I think the “free” part has more to do with a small company with steady sales than any particular need to be nice to the people they have been stringing along for quite some time.
Time will tell. I own Mudbox2009 for OSX now, so time, and money will surely tell.
this announcement happens just one day after the release of Mud 2009 Sp2 demo.
Nice strategic move.
I don’t know anything about Zb4, but competition is always good, and i’m very confident about this release.
Meh, comes out when it comes out and it is what it is… Nothing I can do about it. I however remember the world before ZB, so to me, anything they add, improve or fix will be amazing. Though I do wish there was some do-dad I could hook to my head and control it and skip using these big meaty claws.
I think it’s a desperate move to get attention while Autodesk really has something to show.
But Z4 will beat Mudbox…if it comes before the next Mudbox version.
theyd better make my expensive ralph stumpf materials work  ^^
I’m a registered user and I can not believe that they are also going to give v4 to all registered users for free!
How do these folks make money?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to look a gift in the face and walk away, but, it’s still incredible that pixologic loves its user base so much, they would give upgrades away for free.
Mucho respect for Pixologic and Zbrush.
Let see Adobe, Autodesk and the rest of the so called "industry standards give us free upgrades.
From the bottom of my heart, thanks Pixologic. Now I have two great things to wait for, Zbrush v4 and the Project Offset Editor.
Oh happy days!

Keeey-RAZEEE!
I saw the “ZBrush4!” and thought “Sweet! An not until August! Perfect! That should give me lots of time to save up a few hundred for the upgrade…”
…
…
…then Pixologic sidelined me with the “Free upgrade” one-two.
I have a serious question: Just how do they release free upgrades like this for FREE?!?
It isn’t even out yet and I’m feeling guilty…maybe I’ll save up anyway and buy a second copy just to make myself feel better…
Way to go Pixologic!

Wahoaaaaaaaaaa, It´s Cool Good news!!!
ZBRUSH 4!
ooooohh… I’m tooo excited!
Too all the people here with a negative attitude, which is very strange as zbrushcentral is one of the most gracious and friendly forums on the net normally. Shame on you! be greatful for what you have got.
ZBrush and Pixologic have changed the face of 3d modelling for ever, way before anyone else got on the band wagon. ZBrush 3 is fine. There are hardly any bugs, so quite the pretentious moaning… please. Perhaps your not using it right
I cant wait to see what these guys have in store, what ever tiny adjustment or enhancement it might be.

You forgot the most important question…
“What’s in it?”
Hmmm exactly. We know as much about Z4 as we did about Z3.5. Would be nice to at least start getting some info on what V4 is about.
I was not surprised about an announcement but I was that nothing was mentioned about whats new or anything.

Well, i would like to sign in for a beta tester!
yeah, 24 hours after that announcement… probably took about 45 minutes to make the Z4 graphic and do a find->replace in the code to change 3.5 to 4.
voila, ravenous fans.
Somehow I don’t think the people who are jumping ship in favor of mudbox are going to be fooled at this point
Blimey! A free upgrade. I feel really spoilt. Thanks pixologic
.
3.12 Doesn´t do work at very important parts of the pipeline so that “free upgrade” is not a gift, but a replacement of a non-working product
Don´t be so happy. We doesn´t know what will do 4.0 different from 3.12
And we don´t know wich tools that now works well will work badly in the new release.
This announcement made my day, now onto the videos, videos, videos! hopefully it will be as spacey and cool as the zbrush 3 is here video, with all sort of cool visual metaphors
