Zbrush Start

Going to try and post some models I’ve started with zbrush. Still very much a newbie.

Still learning different techniques. I cannot draw worth a poo so I usually just wing the whole process, making it up as I go along. Not efficient, but since I am doing this purely for fun it is not important. The only problem I have is keeping my attention throughout to finish something.

My intention is to retopo these and take them into some other app to finish, someday. The bust’s hair and whatnot is only there as a stand in…not intended to look remotely realistic. Thanks for looking!

Double post…still getting used to this forum:D

Here are some minor updates. As stated before, still very much working on learning the best workflow.

I tried posting this image earlier, thought it took…but doesn’t look like it. Just a big nosed, old man bust. Lots of stand in stuff. Just having fun and learning a bit along the way.

Updated the old man bust, reworked hair a bit and eyebrows. Just goofing around in general.

OK, unless I come up with something totally different this will be it for today. It’s funny, when I started with this character I was winging it as is usual. Where I work we are about to have huge lay-offs…some of the guys were joking about not having to be drug tested any longer…thought this would be fitting:lol:

Just goofing around, as usual. Came up with an interesting effect. Take a look.

Just popped in to give you some encouragement from another newbie. I really like where your bust ended up, it looks great. It looks like you’ve got a good grasp over the brushes and over the control of them, which is something that I am definitely still struggling with.

Please keep on posting and I’ll keep on looking.

Thanks!! As I’ve said…I sort of make stuff up as I go along. You should try and get a hold of the training videos from Eat 3D. They do a good job of giving you a basic foundation as far as technique goes.

Started this one to try and experiment with making feathers…not sure if I have the attention span. Have some other ideas. Needs a lot of work, but thought I’d post it anyhow.

Another update on the freaky bird thingy. Needs a lot of clean up. Just wish I had the time to really dig into zbrush…such is life:)
ZBrush Document.jpg

This is one of my first posts…decided to go back to it. Some of the detail has been left out intentionally, it will be covered eventually by whiskers and hair (if I can manage to work out retopology:) ). Still working on the fine details…learning how to use masks and alphas to get the detail to fade off properly. Zbrush is amazing, but it definitely takes a bit to learn the subtle tricks.

Here’s anoth wip. Started with a very basic mesh and started shaping and adding detail. Right now it’s at 154k points.

One of the great things about zbrush…even if you are feeling as creative as a cardboard box you can come up with something interesting. Not feeling very creative today, starting goofing with zbrush and came up with this.

Very nice! I assume most of this was done just by masking off what you wanted?

Masking off, adjusting the extract visible and smooth settings. I also used a morph target and layer brush to get the different ‘depths’. Didn’t really have a plan, just experimenting.

Was working on a little avatar for a forum. More just goofing around.ZBrush Document.jpg
