Zbrush At Siggraph - From My Perspective - Day 12

This is frekking awsome!
Hope we get to see a video of the presentation

This is beyond AWESOME!!!

mesh extraction!! omg! i watched that video with my mouth hanging open what an awesome addition! i can’t wait to see the rest of the new features

Mesh extraction is amazing for sure. Gimmie gimmie gimmie…

Thanks for the vids.

Been thinking about the Mesh Extraction tool (quiet day at work!). I presume it’s an automated ‘Meats Wire method’. If ZB’s algorithms determine the extracted mesh density (presumably all quads), does that mean it’ll throw a wobbly if any of the selected model consists of tri’s? And will you have to be in the lowest sub-d mode when extracting? Just idle musings.

hey i wanted to ask you if you could elabarate a little more on zcasting and also ask you if you have redone zscripts in a more inovative way like fastforward or reverse so we can go back if we missed something but i would really like to no more about this zcasting is this like we can se people work in real time on zbrush central or something please if you would could you elabarate more on this i would like to know more!!

Mudbox??? It’s a joke. Long life to Zbrush.

Congrats!

There should be a zbrush theme song!

This is 3D history!

Cheers

i just saw zbrush 2.5 in action at siggraph and i gotta say it’s absolutely spactacular. it completely removes the necessity for external base modelling. really impressive!

We’re going to see a lot more fanboy campaigning in months to come (particularly in the realm of home gaming consoles), so let’s take a moment to understand it.

Intellectually, we all know that two competing forces will mutually drive each other to greater feats of innovation, but it’s hard to think in “everybody wins” scenarios when…

We’re extremely grateful for what we’re about to receive, and for what we’ve been blessed with already. Loyalty pulls us to take sides, and we want ours to win.

We feel personally betrayed when others take the opposing side. And while it’s mean-spirited to wish for their side to lose, they started it by declaring that ours would. Which, again, feels insulting because nobody involved has an existing relationship with the other developer.

We have to grow past that.

Both “sides” come from a place of scarcity – the belief that there isn’t room for two similar tools to exist, let alone compliment each other. That supporting one means tearing the other down. Which might be a reality for some of us (we can’t afford to invest in both), but I assure you, it’s a temporary one.

  • Competition drives innovation.
  • Free trade hates a monopoly.
  • There is strength in diversity.
  • We’re all in this together.

Also, I wasn’t being sacrastic earlier. We’re getting lasso selection! It’s a small change, but oft-requested. So… in the rush to make huge feature additions, Pixologic hasn’t neglected the subtle workflow improvements. No one else is blown away by that statement? Really?

Great. Did they mention something about the release date?

tells us more _dado.

what of the interface and features you saw?

I wonder…

  • how layers works and what options they have.
  • are the shortcuts custimizables?
  • will be possible to use all the Strokes in realtime projection master (freenHand, spray, drag dot, line, array… etc)

dado if you know something about it … will be very apreciate

Wow!

What ‘exactly’ do you mean by that - have they added a poly-modeler to it?
I’m blown away already, but that’d really be handy :sunglasses:
