Gee Johnny, what are you the Forum police? I think YogiFish is asking in the right place. This is all about the new ZBrush. So will they be releasing an intel version? By guessing wildly I would have to say of course!

I was trying to point him too a place where he could get a direct answer from Aurick quickly. I do not think I was not trying to sound like a policeman. Please reread my post to him I was being polite.

Here is just for discusiing new features any technical questions are usually posted in the questions forum that way if someone has the same question they could find it quickly in one forum. ( at least is this my understanding)

Zbrush 2.5 will be Universal binary & run on all Macs Intel or otherwise. You cannot however run Zbrush 2 on an Intel mac as it is conflicting with the Rossetta emulator within Tiger…

I know this because I email support to ask & that was the reply, hope this helps…

New in-store purchases are now Intel, but in-home existing Macs are all over the spectrum, and so are the refurbs sold directly through Apple’s site.

The pro line is very expensive, and not everyone has upgraded. Nor will everyone that does so go with the newest model – if budget’s an issue, pros would rather buy an older pro machine than a newer consumer model. Especially for ZBrush. The G5 maxes out at 16 gigs of RAM. An iMac or Macbook Pro maxes out at 2. Do the math.

So, the PowerPCs are very much still alive, and will remain so at least until the Quad Cores come out first quarter next year (and the previous generation’s Dual Xeon drops in price).

It’s a minor detail, but one you’re putting a lot of weight on, so you might as get it right.

I’m sorry, let me rephrase myself: All Macs has gone Intel. So if you purchase a mac from now on (besides refurbished) they will all be intel.

There is one more coming. Mesh projection. I was wore out from Siggraph and video editing and other preparations so I just needed a little more time before I put it together for ya. I will post it here when its done.

Respectfully, I disagree with the choice to release more videos. As one of your customers, until a release date can be given, these do not provide anything more than a tease. Take your time on deciding when to release and when to announce when that release will happen. I am not suggesting you rush the process, but I would certainly avoid the image that this is '04 repeated. To release videos, and then go silent for weeks or even months would leave a very, very bad taste in my mouth and possibly many more.

It would have been much better to just hold on to the cool info and announce it all at once than it was to do this.

I was serious. It’s a personality thing I think. Some guys I know download the latest wallpaper for every Italian/European sports care they can find. They watch the auto shows with intense interest, eating up every stat with glee. They’ll never own one of those short of winning the lottery or some other moment of insane luck.

Me? I don’t really care what’s going on with products I know I’ll never own. I don’t read about Bill Gate’s house, or the Saudi Royal family’s car collection. I don’t care who has the largest home theater in the United States.

I felt very differently in '04, and feel differently about other companies announcing features and videos for upcoming products. However, after having purchased 2.0 with the idea that the features I saw upcoming for 2.5 were “around the corner”, and that was in '04, I now take all announcements like these without a release date attached to be nothing more than a tease.

I don’t like being teased. I’ve waited two years without any new info, I can go another six months, but don’t show a bunch of features off without even a rough estimate of their release date.

You have no idea if this is coming out by December, and the fact that you speculate that cracks me up. It could be… late 2007, mid 2008, early 2009. You have no better idea than I do. Before you act incredulous at those dates, you need to remember back to '04 when anything past early '05 sounded… crazy.
