***** ZBrush 4R2b - Launched! *****

Ah… ok I worked out the issue, the hair is created as a subtool and you need to select it first from the pallete before exporting it.

Woot!

ehmm… yes. did you read the documentation?

Excellent, thank you so much !:+1:

Finally got it up on my laptop. Earthquake looks sweet! However isn’t there copyright issues with having him in the software, since the design is owned by Playmore (formerly SNK)? Also for some reason the BPR render of him doesn’t looks as impressive as the realtime viewport. It tends to bleach out the fantastic skin tone going on.

WOW, even Scott M C4D likes the new update… now i can see the actual update videos… :’) thankyou zbrush you are beautiful. i had made a model 1 month ago and was waiting for you to launch the fiber emsh… now i’ll finally be able to make some hair…

Thanks Pixologic…absolutely wonderful tools. Ive worked in a few places where zbrush was sneered at for not being “Sophisticated” enough. NOW people will have to take notice.

My first zBrush free update and it’s awesome ! \0/
Thank you Pixo’ !

Alos, I’m very curious about the QRemesher, looks like something very good :

He was kind enough to give us the rights to share that great character in this way.

Hey Aurick…please pass on thanks etc for the fibremesh update. How long till we get a good video tutorial?

Fibermesh is pretty easy to learn if you just tinker with it some. I had some “Johnny Storm” flame on hair done in about 30 minutes of playing pretty much exactly the way I’d hoped it might come out.

(I didn’t bother to save it since it was just a demohead doodle.)

The what’s new in Z4Rb2 pdf included with the update gives a brief explanation of what each fiber grooming brush does.

There seems to be a lot of errors and typos in the manual this time, most noticeable one being the keyboard shortcut for opening the clip brush modifiers is Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar, not Ctrl+Spacebar. It took me a few tries to figure out the Combo, reminds me of playing Streat Fighters.
The release postponed once and still feels a bit rushed, but how Pixologic manage to put so many new features and improvements in such short time is really mind blowing. :+1:

Oh, and I expect ZBC bottom row to get a lot of hairy things in the coming days.

I’ve been an on looker of this application since it’s first release through 3D World Magazine which I first picked up in 2000, though I’ve only actually added it to my toolset from March of last year. I know the importance of some sort of hair generation functionality in Zbrush, it’s implementation is really quite significant as well as fun and useful from an artists point of view. It actually made me go back to Cinema 4D to see how it compairs. What is immediately evident is that Zbrush’s new hair system is more realtime where C4D is more move and refresh update based. C4D can use the interactive render region to get a preview with guide sculpting functionality where Zbrush uses a what you see what you get preview type without that refresh. I do have to say though that in my testing the speed in final rendering between Zbrush and C4D as well as quality of results shows that C4D wins significantly by a substantial margin. While C4D’s hair system is much more sophisticated, Zbrush’s hair system does have different methods for the formation of hair sculpts which are more flamiar to a real hair stylist with realtime formation. C4D does have the advantage of being able to render while you are still able to sculpt the hair on your model. While C4D Hair is both an artistic and technical process, ZBrush 4 hair is more traditional and freeform with less technical knowledge required which is no bad thing.

I am using gateway notebook, use my Fiber 1Gig internet connction at work for its higher speed. When I got home and connected all my external HDD, I tried upgrade again… worked like a charm! go figure. ha!

And the race to make Chewbacca begins…

Damn, Good one!.. And I though I got the jump everyone when I began working on a Cousin It.

Amazingly delicious. I need to lie down , mop my brow and contemplate the permutations and possibilities. The horizon is now curved.

Trying to get the hang of the new FiberMesh. Playing around trying different hairstyles/matcaps on an unfinished bust.

hey guys, installed the update and everything worked fine, except Ive noticed that while sculpting with the normal brushes that everything seems slower, theres a slight lag when i try to quickly build up a form by tapping quickly. anyone else encounter this problem? its weird, so I’ve rolled back to 4r2 :frowning:
