I received my email for R2 early this morning.
Ditto.
R2’s a bit unstable, no? Thing’s crashed on me quite a few times and I haven’t used it that much. Last night it crashed on me while I was scaling a subtool sphere. Original 4 is solid as a rock.
I only had one crash and it was when inserting mesh to a dynamesh. However I had a lot of crashes with the Zbrush 4, the same you say you get in R2, scaling or moving with transpose tools. And I mean A LOT
I am having a blast, more fun then ever in zbrush. this is frakkin brilliant … best thing so far is the feeling of dragging a clear mask with dynamesh on and witnessing MAGIC. isnt that the definition for technology you can explain? magic
take a bow pixologic!
I received mines yesterday morning when I least expected it to arrive haha!
I was already done with waiting and I just checked my E-mail just for whatever realizing that it wasn’t going to be there and then BAM! Santa Came Early It arrived around 1 AM and I checked my E-mail at 8 AM but realized I had tons of chores
So I got those done early and had the rest of the afternoon to Dynamesh. I hope everyone has received theirs by now.
Thanks Pixologic for the free upgrade
cant say enough ty Pixologic for zbrush4r2 bought it and it is awesome . cant wait to see what 5 has in store besides being 64bit Best modeling program noone can touch it .
This should be Zbrush 5.5. Amazing set of new features in a free upgrade. Great stuff!
Thank you guys, this stuff is great!!!
I’ve owned ZBrush since Christmas last year. I used it to make almost all the textures I used in my M.F.A. project, but I never really got too far into the sculpting/model creation. I’ve had R2 since early yesterday morning, and it’s like you guys turned the lights on for me. I can’t stop playing with dynamesh. Stuff that would totally wreck my mesh no longer gets in my way.
This update opened the door for me, and I’m sure a lot of other people. So, I just wanted to give a big thank you to Pixologic!
One day with the new toy… and already noticed a major issue that beta testers didn’t.
Guess where it is. In RETOPOLOGY tool. Already asked for help in troubleshooting

Does pixologic declared a war with retopology, or what?
Thank goodness, dynamesh works great on the tablet. I’m so happy you don’t need to have crazy hardware to use this technology. It also works great with imported meshes. I was able to remesh a file with dynamesh on my tablet in a few seconds, when it took 3dcoat’s auto-retopo 3 hours to do it on my workstation with all kinds of holes in the result…
Great work!
took me a bit to figure out how to get stronger shadows, i was messing with lightcap and shadow strengths , but never really got a heavy shadow , it always quite soft/light. Then i found the modifiers under material -> environment , Shadow : 50 and AO : 50. Now these have a serious impact
Still its fun so far , messing about in the new version.
I Have to admit my jaw DID literally drop while viewing the final video for ZBrush 4 update…what version 5 might have is almost scarey…Have had a quick play with DynaMesh…there just aren`t enough hours in the day are there?
Thanks again Pixologic…and it`s free.Good grief!!
Hey…um… I haven’t received the zb4 update email yet. How do I go by getting this. I’m eager to get started.
If you haven’t received your upgrade email then please submit a ticket at http://support.pixologic.com. You’ll need to include your original purchase information.
I really like this upgrade and have written a short blog post about it showing a quick test using DynaMesh. If interested, my blog is at:
