ZBrush 4R2 Unleashed!

Although the “CurveTube” tool is slightly better than f___ing awesome, I really, really like how the polypaint information is kept as you update the Dynamesh. Really, really solid set of tools. I can’t wait to continue sculpting freely. I’m using this continuously as a maquette tool for my actual clay sculptures. Better than sketching it out on paper.

Lots more to explore with this version, but I’m very happy so far.

How about this solution: They do us the courtesy of sending an email saying “Your download key will be available at x time on x day”. Then I can stop checking my email. Then I can organize my life accordingly and move on. This keeps everything the same, except the mystery and the disappointment, which is frankly a bit degrading. Just my two cents. BTW I already own two copies of ZBrush (one for home and one for work) and I haven’t gotten an upgrade on EITHER yet. What are the odds?

Cheers
Will

twiddles thumbs Has it only been three and a half days…?

It feels so much longer… haha…

well you could be in my boat, got my work upgrade this morning but not my personal copy yet.
problem is Im on another project and cannot get to use it yet at work;)
same way it was last time for me, just hope I get my personal copy so I can enjoy it this
weekend

still no email. Is there really that many accounts that it has to drag on this long?

Bittorrent is your friend for mass distribution, guys. They do that at FXGuide and for modo releases

Yup I’m still waiting too :frowning:

Mr.Random always put me in the last week, all the years, all the update…10 years in this forum, so dont cry guys the gem will come soon

Last time, it dragged on a couple days past their original expectations. The early notices said don’t contact tech support before 9/27. I saw in the trouble shooting forum the date of October 1st.

(“Please do not contact Cleverbridge or Pixologic Support prior to that as they will not be able to assist with such inquiries until October 1,” in http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?160733-ZBrush-4R2-Troubleshooting-FAQ&p=891426&viewfull=1#post891426 .)

I’m more concerned now that people are getting duplicate OSX licenses instead of windows licenses, which suggests their list is SNAFU (again) as evidenced by lack of coordination between “R2 is coming!” emails and license emails.

As someone who bought from Pix directly in the 1.55b days (ah. the sweet days before super-duper-anti-piracy-prevent-you-from-running-the-software-you-paid-for), and before DumbBridge, I have to request my stuff manually half the time, or re-initialize my licenses if I change the graphics card, upgrade the PC, or even (gasp!) attach a raid to the SATA port.

They could at least do us the favor of letting us know what percentage is sent out so we would have some remote idea of when we might see the actual product, but that would ruin the suspense. After all, everyone wants software distribution feel like winning the lottery, right? I usually figure on a month from when Pix starts these rollouts so I can be pleasantly surprised if I get something usable in less than week.

(As always, my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek!)

I’m also still waiting for any contact from Pixo/clever bridge regarding R2. Should I have gotten an "its coming, email? or are some ppl just getting the download link.

In the past I think we re-registered in the support forum, but I’ve seen nothing regarding that.

  • Also a user since 1.55 R2

next time i think pixologic should deny themselves copies or use of ZB updates until all customers get theirs first. i’m sure they would slam those emails out then

anyways, considering that all of us have been waiting since the day the release was announced and not just these last 3 days, this really sucks. i’m dying to play with it this weekend while i have the time… as i’m sure most people still posting here are feeling the same. if pixologic is soooo excited about unveiling this release (having already had access to it all this time), how could they expect that we wouldnt be even more anxious to get it as soon as the date release date arrives and be counting down the seconds…

there’s got to be a better way… maybe for ZB5 we can all request a “download update now” plugin?

oh well, i’ll just continue making bad jokes until it arrives i guess…

tick tock tick tock.

are we there yet?

hello… is this thing on?

Patience pada-wans patience.

This happens with every upgrade they’ve had since they started upgrading. Announcement, folks get excited, release date, folks are even more excited, days pass without getting an email, folks start to panic, others get their emails, folks get angry, folks start posting work in the forums with the new tools, folks who haven’t received email yet go all Sparta. lol

Happens, every. . . single. . . time

You’ll get your emails guys / gals. Just be patient. Lots of em to send out. ( I’m still waiting too  )

Look at the bright side, at least the documentation is up and out for you to read now.

According to a note posted by support in this forum, the two emails were sent separately. The one we’re waiting for will emit from "Clever-as-a-hamster"Bridge. The other one (which I received last Sunday) came from Pixologic. It was suggested by support that the lists are different. If your email and licenses in support, incl. your past "So-clever-you’ll-never-know-it"Bridge numbers (see http://support.pixologic.com), then you should be in the list for the magic email and (hopefully) the right platform.

Evidence (and past experience confirms) suggests that there will be a (hopefully small) percentage of users which need to contact Pixologic after September 27th, (October 1st or whatever they will say next week) to get a manual email from "Gee-aren’t-we-more-clever-than-you?"Bridge at which the usual food-fight over activations can begin. :stuck_out_tongue:

you know, at the very least, it would be nice to know the volume of licences/activations we’re talking about here… if pixo were to say “hey, look guys, we have like 3 billion million zbrush users to email. thats like half of a billion million emails a day for the next week and a $#*tload more activations than all autodesk products combined!! come on, work with us!!”, we would understand…

but no

what if there’s only like a few hundred of us and cleverbridge employees are too busy playing with intercepted copies of R2 to send out the emails???

what if…!!!

are the downloads tagged with some individual code ? cause otherwise i don’t see an issue with ppl that already got the installer to make it available on public hosting solutions and those that have already upgraded zbrush through 2-3-4 can use their last cleverbridge sent serial nr , cant they?

Does anybody know where the really cool zbrush 4 R2 video went which was on the first page of this thread? It’s vanished now or I’ve missed it… Was really good to watch while in limbo.

Wow zbrush fanboys are something else.

Was it Sneak Peek #2 http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?152654-Sneak-peek-2-of-ZBrush-4R2

maybe cleverbridge got a hold of the video and is only letting a select group of people (also completely randomized) to download and watch it at any given time over the course of the next week to save the website from bandwidth meltdown as ZB users still waiting for their R2 emails resort to re-watching claytime videos… for the dozenth time…

right, who’s with me?

Nope, wasn’t that one, I’ve just found it on the official zbrush youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ZBRUSHatPIXOLOGIC#p/u/4/JYXr7AuPGwE

Hi! Question to support: At the moment, there is the happy owners of Zbrush RC2 in Russia?
