ZBrush 4.0 Purchase and Upgrade Schedule

They are probably currently setting up the Threads that are mentioned on Page 1 of this never ending thread:

When Z4 is released, beta testers will have their own threads here at ZBrushCentral so that you may communicate with them and learn from their Z4 experiences!”.

Er … because we’re not beta testers!

I’m not a Beta tester too… the first link is lockd to me too now. But the individual threads links I post after open, when I click on them. Give them a try. If they work, save the thread on your HDs, before they lock again :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks jramauri for the info in your post on the BPR and Fibers, looking forward to Monday!

You see… It never happened.

“Full information about ZBrush 4.0’s exciting new features will be posted on the Pixologic and ZBrushCentral websites on 8/9/10.”

Yeah, i was hoping to see more sneakpeaks too BUT this is the only thing it says about that on the first post of this thread. So, we can just start a countdown and hope this puppy launches when stated on the first page. Approx. ETA 4.5 days.

brainsplosion!! i’m saving up now!!

ok, sorry

is this Hair in ZBrush4? or is rendering in another app?
Or was it hande made geometry?

Zbrush 4 can render hair, there is a fur/hair plugin built in

edit> i should clear things up, i think its just fur not sure about hair. I heard this in another thread.

…did you just say ‘render plugin’?

programmers rejoice!

that is very interesting!! hair has always been a bit of a um… i dont know…

their is a new topobrush in Z4. I wonder how that works?

Just 3 more days!

wrong post

Really!!! How did you come to know about it? Someone at Siggraph? I really hope there is an innovative retopo tool in Z4.

Just 3 days left and they will fly away!

D

I can’t wait the next vedio show!!!:+1:

I remember a time when Zbrush was laughed at and not taken very seriously. It was looked down upon by a lot of artists back then as nothing more than a quirky toy, but I saw its potential and knew better. My how times do change.

Everyone has different needs. Personally I prefer the honest approach, where both pros and cons are acknowledged rather than just one or the other. I do not see this as complaining, but simply being factual. One cannot improve without at least some criticism, so long as its constructive of course. As artists, we should all know this already. I definitely think all of the new features shown to date look amazing and can't wait to see all the different ways they're put to use, Shadow Box especially. That and GoZ have me super excited provided it works as promised. Fingers (and toes) are crossed in the hopes of seeing proper paint layers and blend modes, true hair/fur, improved retopo tools, resolution independent poly-painting (like 3dCoat), 64 bit support (you never know), and so on. I also can't wait to see what they do with Sculptris. Hiring Tomas Pettersson was a very smart move IMO. The dynamic tessellation he came up with, which I find works quite intelligently, is impressive. It will be interesting to see if it can be implemented into ZB and made to work with quads. While the wish list may be long, I honestly won't complain when Z4 arrives even if I do end up feeling some sense of disappointment at certain features or lack thereof. I know they're fully aware of what us artists want, including all of the bugs that need fixing. A program as complex as this will always take time and patience to get just right. Given how updates keep being released at no additional cost to users, complaining would just feel wrong lol.

Looks like it is being considered:

[http://www.pixolator.com/showthread.php?t=76304](http://showthread.php?t=76304) Makes sense too considering Pixologics two primary competitors already support it. Given how Zbrush already does something very similar and the fact that ptex is open source, I cannot see any reason against implementing what is sure to become an industry standard. I still remember the first time I worked with tiles and realizing how potentially liberating they could become. Push a single button and shazam, you have UV's! The two main issues though were rendering outside of Zbrush (seams, which by next year probably won't be an issue for any 3d app that supports ptex) and attempting to edit the resulting texture maps in Photoshop. Both of these should be easily solvable based on what I've seen on Youtube though (for example: select a group of polys, flatten, export, paint, import, unflatten). I'm sure a GoZ style solution would work perfectly. Anything that allows artists to focus on the fun aspects of their hobby/job without having to worry about technicalities is aces in my book. This has always been a primary focus for Zbrush and why I have faith in the good folks who work tirelessly to improve it. Next stop: making retopo far less of an annoying chore, woohoo! :D

Seconds are feeling like minutes, and minutes are feeling like hours.
ZB4 has my anticipation sky high.

Could anyone tell me when the batch download links will start being sent.
I know it’s Monday but don’t want to start premature spamming of the
Send/Receive button on my mail client too early. “I know i will anywayz”

Aurick could you post and tell us as soon as you push the send button?
