Any Siggraph info welcome… (just something to get us through the coming days)
I agree… time is killing me, a year back I stopped all projects for nearly two months, in waiting for ZB4 hopefully not this time…
I remember they handle upgrade emails alphabetically by email address. Think I might change my support email to aaaaaa@something.
*Upgrade instructions will be sent in batches over several days. In order to be completely fair to everyone, the order in which upgrades will be sent out has been randomized.
Hey guys, that Introducing ZBrush 4 will be released in January. the reviews on Amazon.com are for the original edition (the one with the Medusa). I promise the new version will have a better cover, the beetle is just a place holder for now.
Eric Keller
Fantastic video and new features … love the shadowcatcher and proyection … AWESOME
How about giving us some information to talk about then? If you want us to keep talking about Zbrush and not even deviate slightly onto Mudbox or any other app then you should end some of the speculation by providing real information. Otherwise we’re running out of things to blindly praise you guys for.
Yep, 64-bit please. Long overdue
Thanks Eric! I have 2 of your zbrush books already and i love them! The only issue i with with your origional intro book was that the macros dont work with the current 3.5 of Zbrush.
I will purchase your new one when it is released. Do you cover Spotlight, shadowbox and the new animation feature of Z4?
Did I miss something? I didn’t see or read any mention of SSS or Hair… help me out here.
On the official page from Pixologic about SIGGRAPH one of the presenters was going to show off some new hair features. Nothing more was said about it.
The SSS stuff is probably in reference to the green watch that Pixolator posted.
Ah. I see. You are correct, sir. That is definitely some SSS in that jade material in that watch, and it is rendered with DOF and looks photo-real.
Wow.
And Shadowbox looks so ridiculously intuitive I can’t imagine any need to use Zspheres much any more if at all. Blown away by that, I never could have even imagined that in order to ask for it!
That’s just gorgeous prose. Pure poetry. I want it tattooed on my abs.
you will need Zspheres for armature based models, like characters and organic solutions. Shadow box will be great for quick geometric modeling done on the fly. I am very stoked about this.
Well if the “created and rendered in Z4” at the bottom of the images isn’t a lie (like the cake), then it does look like we’ll be getting DoF, Transparency, SSS, and some sort of hair system out of the box :D.
(like the cake)
Excellent portal reference 10pts.
Intrigued by this so called box of shadows
A portal reference! your coolness factor just went up lol
It’s exciting to imagine what might come out of Dr. Pettersson’s mad workshop in the next few months and years. It’s like having Duncan Brimsmead or Jos Stam from Alias/Wavefront (Autodesk) working their magic, or Thiago Costa… Thank you to all the Mad Scientists of the CG world! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I would really like to see some quick and easy (3d Coat) topology tools work their way into Zbrush next. The UV Master is great, but the results can be a bit difficult to control sometimes. Tweaking in Soft or Max is not too bad, though. The results are great for highly organic objects. Anyway, can’t wait for the 9th!
PS, yes, excellent Portal reference! Mmmmm. Rhubarb.
since ZBrush 3 is compiled for 32 bit, but is 64-Bit compatible.
