ZBrush 4.0 Purchase and Upgrade Schedule

Ugh, come on Aurick. Make with the preview videos or a list or whatever. Stop torturing us!!

There is one question that comes to my mind when thinking about pre-ordering ZB4 limited edition.

Where will Pixologic send the package from and will there be customs duty involved?
Regular ZB4 packaging will be available through resellers in the same country where I live, so no customs duty involved. Will that be the case with the pre-ordered limited edition? I’d hate to pay extra for some nerd in customs office thinking he has to protect local markets…

The pipeline I’d prefer is bouncing back and forth from zb4 to xsi. No need to introduce more apps like 3dcoat then.

That is my current pipeline to work with UDK…and Unity3d… say arent you that dude who created that RealTime Shader for XSI?

That is just not very fair. August 9th is on a Monday. How are we supposed to get any serious fun in if its released on Monday? Perhaps Pixologic would reconsider August 6th? What better to celebrate a Friday? On the serious side, I have used ZBrush for a long time. I am a hobby user, but getting closer to being able to implement it within my own possible published products. I can’t thank you guys enough for remembering us little guys. It has been an absolute thrill to see the changes and developments. Thanks and congratulations!!

Don’t forget it’s really going to be a tuesday not a monday.
They always release their products up to the last minute of their given date.
So it’ll be 11:59 on monday but you will use it the next day…

So is there a complete new feature list yet?

Not that I have found and it seems most folks were given a mind wipe when they left Siggraph to stop them telling us anything more.

Cheers

I’m curious (since I’ve never been to SIG) whether or not the people who were in attendance got to do a hands-on with Zb4 on their own, or if they had to just sit there and watch the ā€œprofessionalsā€ use it on some display. If it’s the former then people should be flooding us with info. If it’s the latter then maybe the reason why there’s such little info is because people were forced to only see the things that the artists who were demonstrating it used. So if the artist never bothered with textures then we won’t know if it’s got a layers system, that kind of thing.

Either way… tell ussssssssssssssss!

I think it is to hard to get Zbrush4 !!!
Pixologic will need next week and weekend to tell us all new features slowly.
:b4: Very slowly :b4:

All at one time will get a shock for us

Maybe day for day one feature . . .

I was lucky enough to attend siggraph this year, and spent a good amount of time at the Zbrush booth.

Unfortunately it was the latter. no hands on time, just watching demos. And some of the demos weren’t about zbrush directly, but about coming up with character designs and general topics. Which is cool but didn’t show any new features during those speakers.

Also Pixologic has to assume that most people at the show have never seen Zbrush, which may be true. So most of the stuff they were showing off aren’t new to us. But scattered in there are new features like shadowbox (awesomeness) and the clip brushes (even more awesomeness.) I confirmed with one of the presenters the presence of paint layers (which is what I was waiting for before I bought it, or decided to try mudbox.) so I bought it. I also so transparent materials and SSS materials, as well as animation (it was only used to animate the camera in the case however.) There’s also new subtool control, the solo button allows you to hide all the other subtools with one button. Expand will take all your subtools and spread them out for easy viewing and/or selection. You can now save a project in Zbrush as well, which will save settings and camera position and not just the ztl. GoZ is in as well and supports Maya 3dsmax Modo and Cinema 4d (I think that was the last one anyways.) As far as the plugins are concerned it looks like subtool master is built in finally. as for the others I didn’t see or hear anything other than the announcement that they are being released with ZB4.

I didn’t think to ask about 64 bit but I hope it’s there as well.

I also spoke to a rep from 3dconnexion who said they had a meeting with zbrush soon to try and implement 3d controllers once ZB4 is finalized (Pray it be so!) I’ve heard that they’ve met before, but hopefully they decide to work together this time.

The reason we probably aren’t saying much, is we didn’t have hands on time with it, and it’s already been said in other threads. I’ve said most of these points in another thread myself and I’ve read others doing the same.

now I’m just patiently waiting for an official feature list to drool over.

big thanks for comment your siggraph visit.

Do you nothing hear about spotlight and lightbox in Zbrush4 ?

Thanks for the update

I personally did not hear anything, but I read another attendee’s post who asked that and said that it is included, and is old enough of a feature they probably forgot it was ā€˜new’

I just google searched zbrush 4 to see what I could find on new info of the realease and stumbled across this a book in amazon all about zbrush four with some revealing info in the samples pages and quite a large index about 140 pages to sift through…##

happy hunting!

The inside of that is actually the old book covering zbrush 3 or so. Shame.

denied… thought i’d stumbled across a gem there…

Anybody knows more about the new render and composition functions in zb4?

AH HA videos on GOZ http://www.youtube.com/user/Zbrush3Dinfo#p/u/12/xtbXkD8W4Os

Actually, that video was posted last August when ZB4 was supposed to come out. Why it only just now made its way to Youtube is beyond me. Sorry to burst your bubble :frowning:
