ZBrush 4.0 Activation and Registration Troubleshooting

i don’t know why but i tried activating my Zbrush software that i just bought and downloaded. And the file won’t unzip, i’m on a mac OSX running Lion and i didn’t seem to have any problems when i downloaded the trial version, is it my computer, the file or the fact that it isn’t unzipping.

I had the same issue as dmg3d had (expired link) n following aurick’s instructions, ZBrush support contacted me within just a few minutes after emailing them with a re-activated d/l link , so wanted to say thanks to aurick & ZBrush support ! :slight_smile:

I recently had a major computer crash that wiped my hard drive. I would like to re-install zbrush but my cleverbridge download link is expired. I e-mailed them about it and they directed me back here… So how do I resolve this? Thanks

when u say u emailed ‘them’, I’m presuming u meant cleverbridge?..I used aurick’s instructions n emailed ZBrush via the ‘submit ticket’ option ;

would you please reactivate the download link for ZBrush 4R2 ? here’s my info ; (I copy n pasted ‘‘REFERENCE NUMBER KEY SEAT’’ and number from my 4R2 email and inserted here.)

and then got a response email just a few minutes later with the link, as said…hope this helps

I just installed the ZBrush Trial Edition, but when I start it I get the message “An internet connection is required, please verify your connection and try again.” As you can tell from just being able to post here, that I clearly have an internet connection established. Any ideas as to what the real problem might be? Is there an error log file that might have more details?

Are you behind a firewall?

ZBrush itself must be able to communicate directly with the internet in order for the Trial to work. Basically, it is a two-step activation process. First, your web browser starts the activation. Second, ZBrush checks with the server to make sure that it has been activated. The error you’re receiving is because that second step failed.

If you have the ability to provide permission in your firewall for ZBrush to communicate with the internet, you should be fine. But if you’re behind a corporate firewall and your IT manager does not wish to grant that permission you will not be able to run the Trial.

The commercial release of ZBrush does not have this restriction because it does not have the second activation step. It does not even require internet connection.

Thanks Aurick. There is little chance of getting a firewall exception for this in the large corporate environment that I’m in. I’ll have to figure out something else.

For ZBrush, here are two options:

  1. Register again for the Trial, using a different user name and email address. Install it on a laptop or home computer. You’ll still be able to evaluate it this way and any files you export from it can certainly be put on a thumb drive or something to transfer to the work computers.

  2. Alternatively, you could purchase ZBrush to evaluate it. If you are not satisfied you can request a refund any time within the first 30 days. So even though you are having to pay to test, it is risk-free.

Well…I finally receive the update to ZBrush 4r2…as I do not connect my PC I develop on to the internet I quickly connect it to the internet, hit the De-Activation to De-Activate…and I wait…and wait…and wait some more…finally nothing is happening so I try and connect to any site…it’s not connecting at all. I’ve checked my machine and I have no custom IP address in there (I sometimes hook my PC to my husbands and use it networked peer to peer) and it basically should connect. So I try again…no go…so I decide to run a manual way of getting it sorted…I wait all day today hoping while it’s a public holiday here I’d get the activation key I need and start sculpting…low and behold I check my ticket status like 5 minutes ago…they cannot help me because I’ve exhausted the licenses. I need to de-activate first! HELLO…that’s what I’m trying to do…can’t someone in IT Support get into the database, de-activate me and then re-add me like I have asked??? Come on guys…I have worked in IT my whole life…I know how things should be done…so I’d like my problem fixed before the weekend here which will be in less than 24 huors from now…so please…come on…simple request as I’m sure you handle much much more harder queries than mine! Not to mention the update will help me immensly with the game I’m currently developing for commercial release!!!

PS: and no I have de-activated the firewall on my PC…don’t need it anyway and I am the Administrator!

Submit a Support ticket at https://support.pixologic.com. Include your serial number and specify what name you gave to the computer when you initially activated ZBrush.

I filled out the trial request page and received the email containing the download link. I download ZB and installed it. On startup, it opened my browser to <http://www.pixologic05.com/z4trial/activate.php> to active. When I type in the ID I chose, the web page says:

Your Pixologic ID isn’t in our database. Please double check your input and try again.


I tried to resubmit the trial request page, but that page says my Pixologic ID already exists…

Finally, I’ve attempted this with 3 different email/ID combinations and none of them work.

I purchased zbrush thru Safe Harbor. Will I be receiving communication from zbrush with a serial so I can install?

If you purchased a digital download, yes. How quickly depends on when they actually place the order with Pixologic. If you purchased a CD you’ll receive that with instructions for how to get your serial number (which you’ll be able to do right away).

can someone after 5 attempts (This is with my serial number) of contacting you by email,ticket and re replying to your emails please send me an activation code as you lovely high tech website will “NOT” accept my serial number and will “NOT” let me activate z brush4r2 at all.can you generate a code and send it to me or is it all top secret stuff and a matter of national security why you will not let me activate it?
anyone from pixologic even listening?no matter how many times I asked in the past it is 100 percent garunteed that this same thing happens to me “EVERY SINGLE TIME” I ever try to activate “ANY” version of zbrush when a new version is out.
considering this has happened since version zbrush 2 I can honestly say that I have been very patient over the countless years.

when u try to activate, r u getting a message saying that ‘you are out of activations’ ? …if so, u need to deactivate the other activated pc’s…then a few minutes later, u should receive an email confirming the deactivation…then after awhile u can try activating again,if its still a ‘no go’, then turn in a support ticket, like this ;

Subject: ZBrush 4R2 Upgrade
Department: Upgrades
Priority: High

(example ; would you please activate ZBrush4R2 for me ?..I have already deactivated my previous pc’s…here’s my serial # … thanks in advance)

then within the next few minutes, u should receive an email from Will, declaring that the other pc’s have been deactivated and that ur ZBrush4R2 is now ready to activate,…then u’ll just need to open ZBrush4 n click ‘web activation’, etc…

I just pulled up your ticket in the Support system. Originally you were typing an incorrect letter as part of your serial number. Will provided you with your correct serial number. You then encountered the error message again because the next time you left a letter out as you were typing your email address.

You are not encountering problems caused by the activation system. If you type your info correctly, the system should work without issue.
