ZBrush 4.0 Activation and Registration Troubleshooting

Downloaded the install file, went through install but when I try to launch the app I’m getting following message:
"Sorry, incorrect file permissions detected. Please re-launch Zbrush “As Administrator” "

What should I do? I’m pretty sure that account I’m using has admin permissions.
I’m using WIndows 7.

Right-click on the desktop shortcut for ZBrush and choose the option to “Run as Administrator”.

Even though you’re logged in as an administrator, individual programs don’t have administrator-level permissions. This means that they can’t write to their own folder and subfolders unless you authorize the program to run as administrator. This applies not just to ZBrush but to any program that needs to write to its own directory – although ZBrush is one of the few programs that actually tells you what to do. Most just don’t run right, crash or give a less than helpful message.

It’s a new thing with Windows Vista and above. As a general rule, if a program has problems the first thing to do is to try the Run as Administrator option.

I get an error when I try and download the new 4R4 update.
I have added my serial number sent from pixologic, and am directed to the download link but I get an error when I click it.

Here is an edited version in case there are any sensitive info in there like codes.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Any help with this would be great

keyed in email and serial, got a ‘congratulations, heres your download link’ message,but when i clicked, i got a 404 error:

Not Found

The requested URL /ZBrush4R4/ was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

yes i am getting the 404 error now too.
last night it was the xml error.

I am on the same 404 boat.
Was on the XML plane too.

So is this not going to be fixed till after the weekend do you think?

I know that our IT manager has been looking into why this is happening to some people. I would recommend trying again every once in a while.

Failing that, Cleverbridge is going to be replacing 4R3 on their system with 4R4 and refreshing everyone’s download link. Once that has happened, the link that is in your email from them containing your ZBrush 4 serial number will start working again and will deliver the new version instead of that shown in the email. (I’m talking about the email from them when you first bought or upgraded to ZBrush 4.x – not one of the emails notifying you about a new release.) If you no longer have that email, Cleverbridge will be able to resend it to you.

I will add to the post at the start of the ZBrush 4R4 Q&T thread letting you know that it has been done as well. Please don’t pester Cleverbridge until I’ve done that. :)

i figured it was an intermittent thing. tried again just now, and its downloading fine. all good!

I went and deactivated my ZB and now I can’t find a record of any new serial # that will get me a link. I’m good about writing down this stuff. None of the emails that i have from the last upgrade contain serial #s. The #s are all XXX out. I have submitted a support ticket. I hope they’re quick to respond because now, after deactivating, I guess I can’t use ZB at all. Sigh.

ETA: Never mind. I’m an idiot. Serial # was in the email. Long day.

I just bought Zbrush on monday. It worked. Downloaded patch one - no problem.

Did auto update today. It download patch 2. Then started up zbrush and asked for activation code.

I entered the code said - fail.

Tried to get a new code and it said I was activated all ready on that computer.

I can’t register to the support to get a ticket because it banned my IP and email for fear of spam…

Don’t know what to do.

When you get the message telling you that it has already been activated for that computer, that is exactly what you want! Simply click the button to “request a copy of the activation key”. This creates a new activation code but doesn’t deduct another activation from your serial number. That way, you get your new code without the same machine being seen as a new one.

As for Support, send your IP address to [email protected]. We’ll check and see what’s going on there.

I also got registered with support - just took some time.

I mostly got freaked out because it said my IP was banned. But in the end I got validated without any problems.

Hello all,
I’m a brand new user, so a little help is needed.
A while back (approx 2 months ago?), I downloaded the trial version of zbrush (I’m not sure what version, but I think it’s 4.x - more on that in a bit).
I let the 45 days go buy.
Recently, I learned that the new version 4r4 was released.

Tonight I tried to open my trial version, thinking I could still update it, then purchase the full (new 4r4) version, but instead I’m getting activation errors when it opens the website for activation.

  1. when I launch zbrush I get the window saying that it will open a web browser to “activate” the trial version.
    It attempts to open a webpage: http://www.pixologic05.com/z4trial/
    But my chrome browser gives me an error titled: “This webpage has a redirect loop” (I also tried firefox and got the same error).

zbrush has me totally locked out, so I can’t even see what version I’m using.

So can anyone offer any advice on my next step?
Should I delete the entire program and try to start again?
Should I even be trying to update the trial version at all, or should I just start the process to purchase the full version?

I searched the forums and it seems like some had similar problems, but when I clicked on the link that supposedly had the solution: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/announcement.php?a=45
I’m presented with a page that says I do not have permission to access this page. (perhaps because I’m a new user?)

Help please. I’m afraid to shell out the money for the full version, until I get this resolved.

The ZBrush 4 Trial has been discontinued. It was actually done a few months ago. We provided enough time for those people who had already downloaded the Trial to complete it, but did not accept new registrations after that time. Once those 45 days had passed, the system was shut down entirely.

You’re only encountering this because you waited so long to install the Trial. Nobody expected someone to wait this long.

I don’t know when the next Trial will be made available. For now, we do not have one.

Just to clarify - I did install the trial version and did use it for about a week. So everything was working fine then.

You didn’t advise though on what my next step should be for purchasing the new 4r4 version…
Can I just delete all my “zbrush OSX4 trial” files at this time and start with a fresh 4r4 install? I’m worried about not being able to deactivate the trial it before trashing the files.

The Trial wouldn’t have worked at this point, then, anyway. It was 30 days of use, spread over a maximum of 45 calendar days from when you first activated it. So even though you only used it for a week, the calendar days ran out.

Regarding going from the Trial to the commercial release, just uninstall the Trial. There’s nothing to deactivate and you will not need any information or anything else from it. Version 4R4 will be a completely stand-alone installation, different activation system, etc.

Hi! Both your web activation and your “contact support” web pages are down, it seems. And I want to activate zbrush. When will they be up again?
