ZBrush 4.0 Activation and Registration Troubleshooting

You are not alone bro. I’m right here with you on this one. I did the same thing and have heard nothing and gotten no email except a confirmation of my ticked that was submitted.

And as was stated above I had submitted another ticket earlier yesterday before Aurick posted here. I submitted the right info but to the wrong department, so I debated if I should sent another to the right department and figured I may as well…

And the wait continues.

EDIT: I received a reply to my ticked and am sorted now. Not sure how that email address got to be the one they sent it to. I have never seen it before lol

So keep faith people they will be getting everyone sorted soon

Now back to what I should be doing at work

Thanks for the update gives me hope  Much better than a post of someone complaining again.

Still waiting under my tree in Africa… maybe send some drum signals to my other African buddies to see if they have it yet…

EDIT : removed my reply since the post I was replying to was removed.

Hi,

Stupid me. Just promoted my PC to 64-bit, necessitating a clean install of Windows 7. Forgot to “de-licence” my copy of zBrush before doing it.

Which means that I won’t be able to activate it this time around.

Could someone help me get around this problem, please.

Do Web Activation like normal. If you get a message stating that all activations have been used you’ll also see an option to list activations. In that list, check off the lost activation and then submit the form. This creates a support ticket with the info that we need to be able to fix the serial number and remove that activation for you. Once we’ve done that you’ll receive an email letting you know that you can restart the Web Activation process, which will now work fine.

Hi,
I changed my mainboard but kept the operating windows system. When i do the web activation,it gives me a new activation code, but i can´t run it.Says that my licence is already in use on my machine. I can´t see the list of activation codes for my pc.Can someone help me with this?

Regards,
Rodrigo A.Branco

When it says that ZBrush has already been activated on this machine, you won’t get the list. That list is only available when you’re out of activations. Instead, what you should be seeing is a button to request a copy of the activation key. That then creates a new activation code without deducting from your serial number.

I’ve recently bought a new home computer, and was wondering what steps I need to take to get zbrush installed/activated on it.

I think there might be licensing issues for trying to activate it on multiple machines (preventing people from just paying once and installing it on several machines). Installing the software isn’t necessarily the issue - I’ve got it on a disk, I’m just not sure how to go about activating it on my new computer (and de-activating it on my previous one, I guess…). Hopefully that’s possible so I don’t have to buy another copy/license.

If there’s a support page that explains this, please direct me to it, thanks!

The license allows ZBrush to be installed on two computers, provided that both copies aren’t actually run at the same time.

If you plan to remove ZBrush from the old computer, you should first deactivate it. This is done from within ZBrush using Zplugin>Deactivation>Web Deactivation. If it’s too late to do that, all is not lost. See below.

On your new computer, install ZBrush. When you first launch it choose Web Activation. This will take you to a web page that asks for your serial number and email address, then creates an activation code for this new installation.

During Web Activation you may get a message that all of your activations have been used. This can happen if you didn’t deactivate an older installation of ZBrush. In that case, click the button to List Activations. In the list that you will be shown, check off any activations that you no longer have the ability to run. Submit the form, which creates a Support ticket with the info that we need to fix the license. During normal business hours this is normally taken care of within an hour, after which you’ll receive an email letting you know that you can use Web Activation successfully.

If you need further assistance, please submit a ticket at http://support.pixologic.com

I’ve installed the Trial and can fill out the webform that pops up every time I run it and it’ll say I’m activated for the current session, but ZBrush itself doesn’t see that activation.

I highly suspect this is because I’m behind my companies Firewall. We have a proxy setup that allows me full access to the net. Is there a way to configure ZBrush to use this proxy so I can get the trial functioning?

I’m hoping so. I’d like to learn enough to show the company how we can utilize it with what we’re doing so that I can convince them to purchase a copy. I can show them the vids on the site all day… but if they don’t see exactly how we’ll take advantage of it… they’ll never ok the purchase. They are very technically challenged when it comes to seeing how “what it can do” applies to how we’ll use it.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do in this situation. My recommendation would be to run the Trial on a computer that’s not behind the firewall.

The commercial release does not have this restriction. But the Trial needs to be able to talk directly to the internet, in addition to the web browser.

That’s really too bad then.

There isn’t a single PC where I work that isn’t behind the firewall and our IT department isn’t going to make any exceptions for me I’m sure.

Does the full version function this way as well? Or is there a way to use the full version via a proxy etc?

The Trial uses your browser to activate, then the program connects to our servers to verify the activation. It’s this second step you’re getting hung up on.

The full version uses your browser to activate and that’s it. The web form creates an activation code that you simply copy and paste back into ZBrush. ZBrush itself does not need to connect to the internet. So this issue that you’re encountering will not happen with the full version.

Hallo! Does the two-machine license also apply for offline machines? I currently have one license of Zbrush activated via email on a machine that I never expose to the unwashed paws of the internet. (and still runs like butter after 5 years!)
I also have a laptop that I would like to take with me with Zbrush on it so that I can be umbillically attatched to Zbrush! I can put the laptop online, but I’d prefer not to. (I have a cheap pink airbook that ‘takes one for the team’ for browsing:p) Is there a way to have Zbrush on 2 offline machines? Or one offline and one online if I have to?

Yes, it does apply but the license is not going to be portable in a way that allows you to also run ZBrush on your laptop. When your computer is not connected to the internet you need to do phone activation. You also have to do phone deactivation. That means that if you wanted to move ZBrush from your second to your third computer you’d need to call and read us the 20 letter deactivation code from ZBrush. Then you’d need to read us the 20 letter request code from the new copy. We then read you the 32-letter activation code. Somehow, that’s not something you’ll be wanting to do often.

So my recommendation here would be to put ZBrush on the two computers where you’ll want it to stay.

Thanks for the answer! I’ve only got it installed on the one desktop right now, so my laptop will be the second machine. I don’t see putting it on any other machines for at least a few years when one of these two finally gives out, so I guess that’s when I’ll be pestering pixologic by phone. I’ll try not to mess up the number string so that I have to start over, like an old lady paying at the checkout with pennies.

It is amazing how much longer the shelf life is on a windows machine when you don’t put it online though!

Hi,

I just installed Zbrush on my new tablet PC and de-activated on one of my two desktops, only problem is that I don’t know my serial number (in the email from Cleveridge I saved from when I last activated the serial number shows only the last four digits and the machine I activated it originally where the original email may have been ceased to work some time ago).

How do I get round this? Where can I find my serial number?
Thanks

Forget it, I found it!

this has happened to me a few times now as i’m trying to assess zbrush before purchase. zbrush loads my browser and i activate the session, but then back in zbrush it’s unable to find the pixologic server for hours. is this a common problem with pixologic, or is it just a run of bad luck? searched online and the problem seems to go back a few years.
