ZBrush 3.5

Then hold onto your jocks… He he he …

I agree with you, but i am sure they will not disapoint once again…

Enjoy Ziggy

i can confirm.

we are indeed waiting.

moist with anticipation.

jin

hehe, gross ^

I’m hoping for more memory usage, like up to 10 gigs, or at least just a little higher poly count capability. I’m two subdivisions away from being able to sculpt molecules when maxing out my system. How am I supposed to pull of a good model without being able to sculpt dust? In other words, I’m greedy and anticipating the excessive power that could be around the corner.

I’m anxious to see what’s up in the new Z-Brush too.

Someone wished for a “Stoke to Path” feature which I think would be very helpful with “hard edge” detailing.

I would like to see the ability to export a multi-layered PSD file of which you could designate materials per layer plus texture and…

HD displacement export would be nice.

Animation tools would be awesome.

Two small things I’d like to see are;

1.Tangent symmetry… more robust that the very flaky posed symmetry currently…
2. A grow and shrink mask command

I just “love” posts saying “I would like to see animation options”. How about advanced sound editor? Or maybe liquid simulatios?
Jeez…

I’d like to see a fill hole button

…what if you could use masking to create uv’s

don’t hold your breath guys, pixologic is notorious for missing deadlines and breaking promises- but they always make it worth it in the end so be patient

I’d personally like to see polypainting split from the ‘poly’ part. I can’t stand the workflow as it exists now… I don’t know a single professional artist who actually uses ZBrush’s generated UV’s, and yet any time we want to poly paint (using textures as a source of color, not just brush painting mind you) we have to disable our UV’s, do our painting, and then reimport the UV’s back in. It’s not the end of the world but it’s a waste of time when all of the functionality is there, it’s just not hooked up the right way :stuck_out_tongue:

Other than that I agree with all of the other requests asked just about… it would be nice to see ZBrush use a proper perspective camera… you know, the kind where 70mm actually looks like 70mm focal length and not like 30-35mm. Also annoying when you hide/show subtools and it actually affects your perspective camera. Imagine how that would work in any other 3D package… you’ve got a guy walking into the frame and all of the sudden your camera goes fisheye on you for no reason lol

…what if you could use masking to create uv’s
that’s actually a really cool idea, but its not that easy… at that point all you’re doing is identifying UV islands, and no software package out there has come up with a foolproof way of handling automated unwrapping (Ironically ZBrush HAS done this, but the maps generated may as well be in a proprietary format that can’t be used in any other program)

haha yeah

What I’m having to do is append temporary subtools above and below of my main subtools so then the perspective doesn’t change when I hide one of my main tools.

Very fiddly!.

My list is short:

Deleting hidden points doesn’t kill finest details
Better retopology tools

  • using a modifier key constrain the given zsphere to the surface
  • add edgeloops possibility
  • relaxing topology
Better poseable symmetry
Better painting tools
Utilize all available memory

I don’t need SSS, better lights, etc. I think ZBrush is an excellent sculpting program, I cannot imagine the life without it. I think that most of the existing features should be polished but nothing is required that drives the Pixologic guys away from this tool. If I want to animate, I’d go to XSI.

My list is shorter:

I want it to work
I want it delivered on time.

I am one of those “lucky” Mac 3.12 version owners. While I do love ZBrush and everything it is capable of, not being able to perform the basic task of getting an accurate texture out of ZBrush is the most frustrating thing I have ever dealt with.

OOOh yes and why not making coffee on the same time :stuck_out_tongue:

Hrm, now that I think about it- I’d like 3.5 to deliver on a promise that 3.1 currently makes:

ZBrush takes full advantage of your 64-bit system

This isn’t exactly true! It’s true you can manually up you CompactMem to 4gigs and utilize 4 gigs worth of RAM- but my 64bit system supports 128 gigs of RAM- so of the 8 gigs I just bought zbrush isn’t using 4 of them (although it sped up my XSI render times! :))

So yeah, a little bit of false advertising… but I’m sure they’re working on making good on their promise.

Agreed, a true 64-bit version would be nice, I already have 8GB of ram and next time I upgrade I’ll probably go for more with triple channel DDR3.

Also, GPU acceleration for at least material rendering would be neat. Wouldn’t mind seeing GPU acceleration using adaptive tessellation either… Nvidia’s CUDA has done impressive things, at some point OpenCL should be able to do the same thing, which is good since it’s crossplatform.

I’d also love a UI tab feature where you can setup multiple custom UIs and switch between them easily with the ability to label them, I know there’s already the next UI button and such.

it would also be great if the new zbrush had a button that when clicked, said in a childish voice or a grown man mimicking a child’s voice, “hey look everybody, I made a character in zbrush!” this would be a big time saver for many.

or at least a humanoid-ish shape that is a lumpy mess, followed by an instant post to zbrushcentral with your new ‘masterpiece’. That would also be a huge time saver for many

Guys, I hate to bring that one back, but we have 1 day left to the end of year and NOTHING new on the 3.5 version.
I love the software and all, I can wait way much longer but hey - what the heck is wrong with you making promises you can’t keep? Why you keep on giving some approximate dates and then you dont even take time to say “hey guys, hold on just there - we need a bit more time”?

I know that f… ups can happend on the way, I know that sometimes we just cannot do everything on time. I understand. But for crying out loud - would it hurt to inform us? Jeez…

PS. someone will surely feel urge to say some old “dont worry Pixologic! Take your time! We love youuu!”, completely missing point of my post…

THX bro! Even if that makes me look as an ox ass  ! Still think that it could be a bit more offical though  But thx a bunch! Happy New Year :+1:

OK…just like that…in the final days before the end of the previously stated time period…an announcement stating there will be a release announcement (not a release) sometime in the 3 months after? This is discouraging. Not meaning to be pushy but, any reasoning or explanantion Aurick? Or will we only get the “Thank you for your patience?”
