*** ZBrush 3.5 for Windows RELEASED

Hey, maybe you guys will luck out and can skip 3.5 completely if 4 comes out in the next few weeks.

May be. Hard to tell.

They’re being ‘silent’ again, but that’s okay

Just popped in to see f there was any news of the Mac version yet. No problem. Will wait.

Cheers

Mike R

Without any news or date set just kill the hope :frowning:

Nah
 They’ll deliver!

They’ve BEEN delivering on all their promises, and even a lot of functions that never existed before like GoZ, and ZSpheres2, and PaintStop, and, and

They’ll come through! Just hang tight!

HANG TIGHT?? We still don’t have the trial version, and the “available soon” has been there for years now! How can you budget for purchases when they give no timeline??? The very LEAST they could do is lower the Mac price on the older version. I see NO reason why we should be paying the same price for fewer features.

Ah well

I bought ZBrush for Mac back when it was v2, and had to wait a looooooong time for v3.1, and then 3.2 with GoZ came along, and even so, v3.5 and v4 will be free to me! What do I have to complain about?

It is clear (to me at least) that they are serious about supporting their Mac base, and I think they’re doing a great job. I’m still learning the blessed thing anyway - with the limited time I have - so whenever they get around to 3.5 and 4 will be fine with me.

I know they’ll deliver. It may not be when WE want, but I’m sure they’re working as fast as they can to get it to us.

As for budgeting, did you miss this part??

If you don’t already own ZBrush, it’ll obviously cost you the regular retail price!

OK, you bought your copy without actually trying it, but the rest of us still wait for the VERY FIRST demo version for Mac EVER. Is it too much to ask to try the software before I buy it ?

Hey it is not about the money, it is clear he will pay the retail price, but he (probably - at least this is my case) don’t want to install old version that becomes obsolete in (hopefully) few weeks and will have to learn the differences. It is good to know when you’ll have to fork the money.

A lot of the functional changes that have been made between version 3.1 and 3.5 for windows are already inside 3.2 for the mac so I don’t see any real learning changes once 3.5 comes out. It will be mainly additional functionality like zspheres2.

OK, thanks for info. I’d settle for 3.12 then, but I’d still want a demo version before I buy ? That “Coming soon” label is really getting old.

One word
Mudbox.

They have a FREE trial version for Mac users:

Pixologic,
See what your competition has to offer? Are you hearing us? We’re ready to move on if you do not support the Mac users with the same urgency you give the Windoze users.

Thanks for the pointer. It is definitely better than nothing at all, but it is also definitely what I’d like to see. I’d really like to see what I buy first.

Wort,

My good sir, I do believe you are simply confused. Autodesk’s Mudbox is hardly competition. I daresay its more like a substitute for those who are not able to adjust, or at least don’t have the time to adjust, to zBrush’s interface. Considering zBrush is offered at a cheaper price, possesses far more features, and has just received the one update to rule them all, I daresay you’re either not able to keep up with the times [I don’t blame you, the industry moves insanely fast], or have not yet given both a good comparison.

Given, Mudbox still has its pluses, and remains an awesome program in its own right, but if your complaints, good sir, are regarding your inability to access a trial due to platform limitations, I simply have to inquire why you can’t find a friend who possesses a Windows installation and try it on their PC instead. Unless you live in the Polar regions, somewhere deep in Africa, or are like me and reside in Deep Space, I daresay you don’t have to go too far to find a friend that has Windows installed.

And if you just so happen to not, then install Ubuntu Linux either on a machine or in VirtualBox, get WINE up and working, and run the Windows Trial from there. This, of course, does take time and isn’t the best alternative, but it is a valid solution, nonetheless.

Now I will say this, I, like many others, do wish I had my hands on the 3.5 trial right now
but the truth is, I don’t. In my opinion, the 3.1 trial is good enough to tell you whether you want it or not, as 3.5 is only 3.1 with extra features and more optimization. Essentially, if you didn’t like 3.1, you won’t like 3.5 either, and that’s just how it is.

Good day. Go forth and make awesome art!

THE MASTER ELITE
P.S. Yes, I fail and doth make massive posts that could likely be summarized into much shorter and less numerous paragraphs, but that’s just how I am. Pardon my dust.

Hey, thanks for reply, but getting it installed on someone Windows machine is just halfway through from watching some videos and actually seeing this live on MY MACHINE. This is what I am interested to see : how it works ? How fast it is ? How stable it is ? I won’t be using friends PC, I want to see how it feels on my own. Still think this is a very valid request.

Omggg

Funny. My comment about switching to another program was censored out. Apparently the monitor of this site has little to do. I hope the comment was passed on to management instead of just deleted. Thanks for the Mac support. Maybe you should spend more money on Mac support instead of Mathew, who deleted it.

That’s a whole different story.

That’s not what ‘caffeineandpixels’ had originally mentioned.

I’m not arguing the point, I’m just saying. And yes, I bought it without a demo. I’d seen enough of what it could do to make up my mind.

And 3.2 runs very well on the Mac.

I understand, but that wasn’t clear in ‘caffeineandpixels’ post.

And yes, I bought without a demo. I’d seen enough of what ZBrush could do without needing to demo it.

3.2 runs very nicely on a Mac.

For Mac people I run ZBrush 3.5 under MAC 10.5.8 and Parallels Desktop and it works well enough to discover this gem.

Or bootcamp to utilise all your macs resources. You do also have to have to purchase a copy of windows and another zbrush license to run on windows so without considerable outlay may not be a viable option.
