*** ZBrush 3.5 for Windows RELEASED

Hey Tony,

Great Job Tony truely awesome work. I don't have a Mac so I was not going to be any help on that one. I am not having the same problems as you for ZBrush 3.5 on Linux Ubuntu 9.04 except for the not accessing all of my ram part. I wonder if your other problems with ZB 3.5 on the Mac has to do with the configuration of wine. ZBrush 3.5 seems to only be accessing around at max 3.0 GB when I have 12 GB in my system. I was also running a system monitor on it, and it was not really taxing my 8 cores all that much.

Most of the time they were sitting at around 30%. I will have to see if I get the same problem in Windows. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that its 32 bit program. I know 32 bit is suppose to max at 3.0 GB of ram due to lack of bits to calculate the higher numbers for the larger amounts of ram. I am curious, does your ZB 3.5 max out at 3.0 GB on your Mac wine?

Cheers,
Nate Nesler

Hello.

I just got my hand on Zbrush 3.5.
I noticed that the noise (before being aplied to the mesh) has a different size on diferent models, even with the smallest value in the scale =1.
I tried this on the polysphere, where the noise could become increadibly small, but when i tried this on the male head model the size was a lot larger (in both examples the scale value was set to minimun 1).
Why is this happening?

Thanks in advanced

One thing that I really need to stress here:

A significant percentage of the support tickets we’ve been dealing with over the last several days would have been avoided if the artist had simply read the documentation.

For example, we get a lot of support tickets (and forum posts) from people who complain that they upgraded and now when they go to download again they’re getting a “page invalid” message. Yet the text immediately below that link explains the reason!

That email also states that after upgrading you need to create a Support account, or update your existing account. We need this info to help you efficiently. Yet most people haven’t done it.

We have even had more than a few cases where someone clicked the upgrade link, clicked past the page where you can edit your information, clicked past the verification page where you make sure everything is right – and then wonder why the system has their email address wrong and they can’t activate.

In the download itself, right next to the ZBrush 3.5R2 folder there’s also a PDF named “READ ME FIRST”. It tells how to install, how to fix the most common error messages, and again stresses the need to register your Support account. Yet we still get many, many tickets from people who have done none of those things.

My point in bringing this up is that a lot of the issues that people are encountering are preventable. We have put considerable thought into every line of text that we provide during the upgrade and installation process, trying to be as proactive as possible. Unfortunately, that all goes to waste if nobody reads it.

Please help us help you!

Are the e5 customers in the group still waiting? As long as I’ve been a user, it’s surprising I never seem to be in their system.

Anyone who has not yet received their upgrade link should submit a support ticket. Thanks.

3.1 plugins are incompatible with 3.5R2.
So do not uninstall 3.1 right away if like me you need to finish up some work in with a workflow you’re used to:confused:

I think someone needs a hug after all the long days he’s been putting in . . .

Thanks. You’re probably right about the other issues being related to wine configuration.

Regarding not accessing RAM, I’m just going by what ZBrush has listed at the top and could be reading it wrong. Its says ~1600 which I’m assuming is 1.6GB and when I run 3.2 natively on OS X it says ~3000. I have 4GB of RAM in my system.

I’d guess that you’re right about the fact that it is a 32 bit app though and that’s why it doesn’t see all your RAM.

I noticed the message for Mac users has changed from “Available end of Sept” to “release date will be posted when available”

Doesn’t sound good.

Any news for MAC version yet? I searched the pixo web and couldn’t find any information on MAC update. Can someone kind enough to point me to the right URL? Thanks in advance

No, no news yet on the Mac 3.5.

I know they were originally saying ‘end of Sept.’, but that’s apparently changed now.

Not complaining here, Moderator guys, but just wondering. Do we have even a rough estimate perhaps, or is it too ‘up in the air’ at this point.

Do you know if it will be this year? Not being facetious.

Any info would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

I wonder if 3.5 will be 64bit for mac or if 4.0 will be 64bit for mac?

That might take them longer to do but Zbrush has been busting booty for the mac people…

and I love them for that.
Thank you very much ZBRUSH people
And I have a cute 18 year old daughter for one of you guys if need be
This is just a cheap scam to get a inside person at pixo.
Yeah I know… It’s genus’s

Yeah, any tiny bytes of news on the mac version would be very gentle!
I’ve seen 3.5 on a PC of a friend and it is delicious!
great work pixo!

I’ve seen that mac people aren’t complaining at all!
congratulations to you all for being virtuous on patience, including myself

greetings pixo
any infos welcome!
r.

Yes! On both counts!!

I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I have been recently with Pixo! The Mac community certainly had some problems for a year or so, but things have really turned around, and Pixo has made good on it’s promises so far!!

It’s wonderful! And still getting v3.5 AND v4 FREE is icing on the cake!

It’s a lot easier to ‘wait’ when you know they’re following up on their promises and keeping their word.

Thanks Pixo!!

Hi Morbius, where did you find the page stated the change? Thanks.

I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86), now it works with windows7 nicely.

congratulations for zbrush 3.5 for pc. And what for mac os X? Can you tell us if it’s a question of days , months, years or more again?
you don’t like mac users?Thanks.

It has nothing to do with dislikeing Mac users, I’m sure. Just like every other application out there, they take care of the majority of the userbase first, and then takes care of the rest.

Its not like this is the first (and I’m sure won’t be the last) time a Mac version is released later on.

And its also not like you don’t already know this answer either.

Having some major issues with displacement in maya 2009 from Zbrush 3.5 R2… I have tried all techniques and the artifacting does’nt stop.
