Finaly I can render something
I just did a very quick test using the demo head, GUV tiles, a 2048 displacement map and exporting to modo for render. Seamless, no distortion, all good!
Looks like ZBrush is officially awesome on the Mac!
Just as a note I was not say “Shut up and stop complaining!”. I know brand loyalty is based more on emotion than logic and no one’s encouraging bugs or missed release dates, but we all have to work within the confines of reality and in the end anything a company says is just marketing crap and only the actual product available really matters.
if you look under displacement, and normal mapping you will notice that the interface there is different, and also will notice that a few options from multi displacer have been now built into zbrush itself. the ability to export 32bit maps, 1 or 3 channel, etc. exporting normal maps also gives more options.
its much more simplified but gives a lot more functionality than before without needing the extra plugins as badly. now, the plugins are icing on the cake, but you dont really need the plugins to get the work done as much as before.
Im very pleased that the Mac patch has come out on time, this gives us hope of the August release for v4, well done Pixologic. Im a PC user so any info on what has been done would be great.
The 2 things I most wanted seem fixed after a 2 minute play. Displacement maps and canvas resizing. Superb, thanks Pixologic.
Sounds good! Downloading now, thanks Pixologic!
Hmmm, crashes on launch for me, ZB3.12 still works OK, fixing permissions now. Anyone else having problems?
Just downloaded 3.12b and opened it. I can’t see anything new on first glance. Hopefully it’s fixed all those pesky bugs though. I’ll test it later
When you say canvas resizing, what was the problem, was it the fact that you can now resize the canvas without having to clear the layer and redraw out the object again?
Id like to know if the object still gets pushed into the background when putting a background image in the scene. Having to keep moving the object forward with the Gyro is a pain?
i shouldn’t have to say this. but you see pretty close estimate and i don’t think pixologic is going to change just because everybody mobs together and threatens to sell there license or jump ship they know where there going the problem you as a consumer are unsure where there going business wise. but again like i said im always happy with the new innovations they create in zbrush… like any other company there going to ignore disruption and arguments because there trying to invent not implement things that are already made and that’s what makes them different then alot of the others out there. so again patience and time and i see it paid off and i hope mac people will be happy that they have there fix till zbrush 4 is released… so i hope the mac people enjoy what the pc people enjoy with a little less bugs and im sure we will see the morale increase more then it was…
but again just being as openly as possible with everyone and as blunt as possible with out seeming rude… really its just common sense…
again thanks pixologic for keeping your promise to the mac people i hope the zbrush4 launch goes just as good with the dual release…
agreed troy, and good job pix!
now i can only hope for a PC point fix for us as well, i’d love to have perspective working correctly like it is on the mac, as it is now composing a scene with the lens effect i want is too painful to even open the program.
There is quite a few things that could get added in a point fix, but I dont think we would get one till v4 comes. Pixologic knows that the Mac had a major bug that stoped it being a pipeline tool. As for the PC version there is loads of features that fail or dont work as they should, but not a pipline stopper.
Are there any workarounds for zapplink?
This is (among the other bug fixes) the one things I would really like.
If there’s another way though to work with photoshop that would be great.
Is there a list of bug fixes??
please?
I see no difference with regard to rendering crashes, If I make a document sized at around 3500 by 2300 fill it with various 3d spheres with various materials then do a best render. It seems to do a good job up to about 99.9% then crash ZB disappears of my mac Pro
I’ve got 6 gigs of ram and still cannot do any serious work with this.
.
We pc guys always had some crashes too nothing special.
Zbrush crashes but after time you evolve a sixt sense for it.
You can literaly say when it will crash beforhand then.
Only time were its bummer is when in a mad workflow
sculpting for hours and forgetting the whole world around you
It tends to crash then at some time and just delete all your work.
Theres nothing i hate more.
So Z4 INCREMENTAL SAVES! ZBRUSH HAS CRASHED DO YOU WANT TO SAVE
not runtime error goodbye have a nice day
Hi,
has anybody tested if it is possible now to create working displacement maps out of ZB 3.12B? I´ve switched from PC to Mac and still have a PC license that I would like to sidegrade to a Mac version. Those displacement problems in the Mac version would have been a showstopper for me. So what´s going on now?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Marco
I’ve done a few quick tests with ZBrush displacements exported to modo and they look fine to me. I’m thinking the displacement problem has now been fixed.
Uh-oh, looks like I’ve got a problem. Now, I have no more excuses for not producing some killer work. Thanks a lot, Pixologic!
