What form should I be filling out?
I bought Zbrush 3 for Windows with the agreement I could exchange it for Zbrush 3 for OS X (when released). I am unsure EXACTLY what form I should be filling out.
EDIT, I filled out the upgrade mac form, and filled in my specifics in the notes area. This ought to do it.
Well I filled out what I could. I donāt remember a my purchase date. I have had ZB since version 1.3 I think. I donāt keep records that long.
Yes I don“t get that either!
What form is to be filled out?!
Isn“t it enough buying version 3 for Mac from pixologic?
Perhaps that is unclear to pixologic!
Perhaps they think when I buy version 3 for Mac I“ll be content with using version 3 for PC with Bootcamp!
Is this a joke or?
D
I dug up my bill from when I bought āZB3 for Macā or rather that is what I thought. On my bill invoice it said that I bought zb2 for mac!
So I just filled out that form, and hopefully that is what pixologic wanted ⦠im still not sure, since its not too transparant.
On the first page of this thread there is a link to it.
I wondered the same thing myself.
The upgrade link is at the bottom of the first post of this thread.
ā¦says something like āexisting users can upgrade hereā

The reason weāre not doing upgrades automatically is that not all Mac users will be able to make use of the ugprade because theyāre not yet on Intel-based machines.
Filling out the form RSVPās your upgrade. When the Mac version is released, weāll be sending out upgrade links in batches, with the order being first-come, first-served based on the order of people filling out the form.
Hope that clears things up a bit.
OK, so are Mac users who attempted to use the temp licence for ZB 3 on Bootcamp or VMware etc required to fill in the form or anything else???
I went from a PC licence to a Mac licence for ZB2 then got the temp licence back to PC until ZB3 for Mac is released⦠
Ta very much in advance⦠
All clear now, no need to answer my previous post!!!
10 days and counting.
Please do get zbrush 3 to start working on pc/vista after mac users! Im behind on so many things, ouch, Mudbox isnt doing it for me
The specs say Intel Macs. . . . I have a non-Intel G5. . . . . am I out of luck?

Yes!
The only solution for Mac based PPC users is to either use ZBrush 2.0 or upgrade to an Mac Intel.
Z3 runs only on Intel boxes. Pixologic attempted to develop for both PPC and Intel, according to an unofficial source. Pixologic made a HARD decision focusing on developing for the future Macintosh. My best guess was they opted for the current Mac platform as their best business case solution.
Apple no longer develops PPC platforms. I donāt think software developers will continue support for them either.
I switched over to a Mac mini Intel from a G4 in 2006. I had difficulty running ZBrush 2 on the mini at first. There are threads on ZBC that helped folks to do that. None the less, the transition to fully functioning ZBrush ANY version on Mac Intel has been a difficult one.
Thankfully Pixologic has lived up to its promise and will deliver a working Intel Mac ZBRush 3.0 in 9 days.
I empathize. A G5 represents a considerable investment.
Iāve been a participant in the computer evolution on both platforms since the early 1990s. Upgrading to a new processor, or OS version comes with costs. Clearly the advantages outweigh the downside when the subsequent speed increases, and efficiency are considered. The process has always been messy.
I bought the mini because it was the lowest cost Mac with an Intel processor. My G4 had had its day. I didnāt want to spend a lot as an early Intel adopter on a top end Mac at that time. I could have jumped for a Mac Pro, but instead decided to hang with the Mini during the Intel processor user shakeout. Iāve since purchased an iMac with the intention of using ZBrush on it. Iām very happy with the iMac. Apple has reliably implemented Intel processors.
Pixologic got caught like a lot of folks in the computer processor/Mac OSX transition. Adobe will not have a Creative Suite that fully implements carbon until CS5.
It would be great to be able to continually upgrade a MAC computer when new processors come on line. I use a Mac because of the ease of use. Iām also willing to allocate resources to upgrade when it is to my advantage. I probably wonāt get a Mac Pro until the current processor has had at least two upgrades.
Iām targeting a 2010-2012 time frame for that.
willbrown1 - I understand that developmental decisions must be made to best serve both the customer and the company. I will eventually gear up with an Intel machine. Luckily, I also have a PC and did a cross-over ZB 3 to that platform. . . . Canāt wait to get it on a mac though!
My dad has a White MacBook (2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM), will this be OK to use ZB3 on until I can get a new computer?
Oh yes. Make sure it has Leopard. Iād up the RAM to 4+ gigs, too. Even 1 more gig would help a lot. Memory is pretty cheap as long as you donāt buy it from apple. ZB is dependent on memory for polycounts, so it will really enhance how far you can take a model.
