**** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - to be released on September 29, 2008 ****

I agree Captain…

As a Mac users, we don.t need to know and tell the advantages of our OS against VistaPC.s

This forum must be used to discuss how to improve more eficiency on ZBrush 3.12 running in our machines.

Would someone help me with a question ? Wich would be the finnest tunning in the MEM Prefernces pannel for a Intel MacPro Xeon Quad 2.66 - 13GB RAM ?

Thanks,

At least 2 GB RAM per processor, ideally 4 GB RAM each. That’s 16 or 32 Gigs on an 8 core MacPro. If budget is tight then 8 gigs which is one per processor. Better to have matched pairs.

You can run fine with odd amounts of RAM but it is most efficient to keep it even.

23 days and counting…

Very good news indeed! - version 3 has barely had an hours use since I got it, and installed onto Bootcamp/Windows - it was quite workable, I just felt like it was a huge hindrence having to use Windows AT ALL, let alone having to switch to it for ZB, or use in Parallells, which is far from optimal.

Looking forward to finally making ZB part of my workflow within easy reach!

I’m wondering how stable this version will be on OS X.
I’m glad the pixo is giving us a choice on what OS we can use.
They want me to buy 20 seats. But I think I better just buy 1 seat and use it for a bit to see how stable it is. Was the last version of Zbrush stable on a mac?

I’ll act like a grown up about my edited post.

I will not start OS fights in the fourm
I will not start OS fights in the fourm
I will not start OS fights in the fourm

But I will say that I work at MS and I use a mac.

Anybody knows if 3.12 supports the creation of vector displacement maps?
I use Modo and it would be cool to do my displacement maps in zbrush, well, not normal displacement but vector displacement. Also it would be cool for mentalray users.

About Ram usage:
I use Vista64bit and OsX. Simple forget Vista, if you plugin 8 Gig of RAM the OS takes 2 Gig for it’s own while OsX needs 200mb (like XP).

Hi there,

in a MacPro Quad 2.66 - 13 gb Ram, how may I set the ZB Memory Prefernces for work without instability? Maxi Poligon per Mesh and Compact Mem?

Thanks,

Hello BP,Hauss,
I have the same set up, Mac Pro quad with 2.66 (but only 6GB ram).
No one knows how to set the ZB memory preferences to work without instability - because the mac version of ZB 3.12 has not been released yet. There are other threads though about memory preferences for zb3 on windows. That would help if you are using bootcamp/windows.

“serenity Now”!!

Thanks bLawless,
let’s wait for it and then we’ll try the best config!!!

Thanks again,

Everybody is wondering how stable this version will be on OS X… nobody knows because nobody can test it yet… but what about the beta testers? or wasn´t betatested?.
I´m a bit confused.
ZB can be ported to MAC OS X without any testing for the users?
Or WE will be the betatesters?
Just wondering :o
FelixCat

I am sure there are betatesters, and everything will work perfect at the end of this month.

We want the betatesters here and now!!

Confesss, confessss!! Is it stable or not??

Beta testers are under a Non-Disclosure Agreement - they are not allowed to comment publicly about the version they are testing.

Honestly, people; as bad as 3.0 was, 3.1 was immediately released to fix ZB to a usable state. Bugs will always be there, as in every program in the world but ZBs are always at a usable state.

Shhhhhhhhh! Loooook! Version 3 for Mac… Oooooooooh!

Hi all,

I am new here. Just a couple of questions.

What is the latest version for Windows?

Will the 3.2 upgrade apply to Windows also?

Thank you for your response.

CHEERS!

OMG OMG OMG 15 days left :DDDDD Je suis très heure!!!

When they say, to be released on September 29, 2008 … does that mean as the clock strikes midnight on the 28th or on the 29th at midnight?
