**** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - to be released on September 29, 2008 ****

Will be possible to download ZB3 FreeTrial (MAC) on 30 Septeber?

The demo version is usually a few months after the regular version as I recall.
Plus they would have mentioned a demo version if there was one ready.

Hope you get your preZent and have a happy birthday on the Oneth of October!

Seeing how this is called 3.12, while for Mac, I take it there will be bug fixes so it doesn’t have the same problems that are in the PC version for a long time, right? Or do bugs usually vary between Mac and PC format? And if the Mac version has less bugs, will there ever be a 3.12 PC version or do we have to wait for 3.5?

I know they have been busy making the Mac version, but I’m confused why there hasn’t been at least been small bug patches for PC. Like the instant crash if you try a deformation tool on a freshly added subtool, which is annoying since it’s the next logical step to size and move the subtool. Or how Zbrush always loses smoothed UVs, making it impossible most the time to transfer PolyPaint to smoothed UV texture so it would be editable in Photoshop.

Other little things like that darn auto unify feature that had an option to turn off before. Scale issues with small objects like from Poser that was not there in 2. The horrible smooth brush in 3.1 update, I mean come on, who’s idea was it to have the default setting for Smooth at 100 and behave worse than before, it really should be called the destruction brush, as in the second you use shift brush to smooth a little, say goodbye to what you clicked on. I have to use a plug-in to auto change the smooth brush and it’s still not as good as 3.0.

I’m hoping this Mac version will have less issues for you guys.

Again I must stress as an experienced programmer I can quite honestly say that you just have no concept of the lines and lines of code and maths that is going into this amazing program!!! And cross platforming is not simple when everything is custom made, from graphics engine to memory usage.

Yeah some of us have the same sort of troubles, but the best thing to do is email support and keep your fingers crossed that they fix it in 3.5. They are trying believe me!!! :D:+1:

WHAT I KNOW, is that they’ll be doing their best

Ranting here really is not going to help other than to upset everyone when they’re doing their best.

The messages I have received from support is that they are frantically trying to get the mac version done (which they now have! Woot!) at the same time trying to iron out the annoying bugs that you mentioned. 3.5 will have new features, but also many bug fixes. And of course a new bug will appear (as every program has one or two, from photoshop to MS Office), but they’ll do what they can to solve them.

So peace and love everyone! :+1:

One more day and all is well! DONG!!!

In this moment, in Italy, on my clock I can see:Today_is_the_day.jpg

It´s october th 29th.
Now i´m going to count until 3. When clap my hands, i´ll open my eyes and i´ll be zbrushing on my mac…

1…2…

Actually it’s September. Also, for some weird reason, they set the release date to the 29th, but then aurick said in the mac zb thread that the link batches would be sent out starting on the 30th. So really, that’s kinda screwy. Should’ve just said the 30th. Regardless, this is my favorite art tool on planet Earth, so I don’t care how bass ackwards they are. I’m not really worried about it, but since no one official has pointed it out in this thread,

THE FIRST BATCH OF LINKS ARE BEING SENT ON THE 30TH, NOT THE 29TH…

So…staying up late tonight to wait on the email may not be such a good idea?

As far as I know, probably not. Then you’d be too tired to use the damn thing when they do send you the link! Can’t wait to see that chrome Z in the dock, though…:grimacing:

I’m kinda tired after waiting over a year already… lol

this should be interesting…

Unfortunately the time frame is base on Pixologic’s location in California, which means Pacific Daylight Time, USA, or GMT -8. And then there’s one’s position on the waiting list.

(unfortunate for those of us Eastward, not Pacific Coasters).

No, not a good idea, it will be at least 36 to 72 hours before you’ll get the upgrade email.
Take this time to rest so you’ll have the energy to run with ZBrush OSX, when it is running on your system:)

Yup, considering that all registrations email will be treated in order they gat them, you might not get it the 29/30 exactly. And since the last minutes are the most tight ones… so might be wiser to count something “around” 1,2 or 3 depending on how speed you re-registrated/switched OS account, and which area on earth you are. For me, it might be this WE to get used on it since I didn’t use it since earlier ZB2 days… ^^

Few more days, I’m so happy Pixo didn’t drop on us. Good days are coming!

Hey guys, sorry if it’s obvious, but snce I’m here! I guess ZB3 is OSX10.5 ready, will it still work on OSX10.4 ? (don’t lough at me, I know!)

I expect to receive ZB this week, what’s the point of worrying about time differences & positions in a queue etc, we’ve been waiting well over a year, what’s a few more days???

Looking forward to it though, I’ve pretty much done nothing creative since moving to Mac 18 months ago. With the release of Photoshop CS4 too, things are gonna change…

Can’t beat it but I can join you on that one as it’s also my birthday.

Same as Buckie, I’m expecting it this week rather than a specific day. If I get it tomorrow then great, but if it’s later this week then I won’t get too upset about it.

I’ve actually been having to run ZB 3 via parallels in coherence mode on my MacBook Pro (1st gen) and it’s been holding me over until the native release. Basically I wasn’t sure WHEN the thing would be released for OSX so I just went and did a “work-around”. Granted I’ve had to deal with crashes due to XP, but, it’s been better than having to just use ZB2 on the MBP.

Can’t wait til I receive my email though.

Well, since I filled out the form on the 14th, this is good news! I was kinda scared that it would be a freakin week or more before I got the email. A little more than 72 hours isn’t too bad!
