***** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - Available Now *****

After messing around with Zbrush for a little bit I am very impressed. Pixologic did a great job.

A year ago I was impressed using 3.1 on a windows machine. Now that it is on my mac pro taking advantage of all 8 cores it couldn’t be smoother. The whole experience feels very fluid and natural. It’s handling large amounts of polygons with ease. The floor, perspective, and depth following cursor are awesome additions. Can’t wait to hear about what else is in store for 3.5!

That number doesn’t contain any personal information, or your serial number. You don’t need to worry about it being in your screen shots.

Still no email, which is understandable i guess, but was just wondering, when Pix think they have sent out all the upgrade links if aurick could maybe put a post up? Just so the super paranoid and impatient amongst us will know for sure somethings gone amiss??

Thank you very much… the email with link came today, I also upgraded to Mac OS to 10.5.4… no problems there at all, and when I activated Z3.12 it worked perfectly… well, so far it dose!..I LOVE it!!!

Anyone figured out how to disable the brush alignment to the surface?? … its driving me crazy!

So far this seems to be a wonderful update. Still running through a battery of tests, but a real nice thing (at least initially) is being able to move files back and forth between Windows and Mac versions of Zbrush - FINALLY!

Love Zspheres again!

wow Zspheres act allot better usually at a resolution of 1 you had folding in on itself problems But now it figures out the transition in geometry.

Its great not to chase them all over the place also!

Also you can zoom to limitless in Zsphere mode making Tiny little details with the critters!!!

awsome!

Great update

Fast as heck on my mac book pro

Still pokeing around with it

Bracket key removal for sizing the brush seems retarded but using the s key you can change brush size pretty easy enough.

jason what are the new PUV tiles?

It is still there, under the ZPlugin palette. Simply assign whatever hotkey you would like by Cmd+Clicking on each of the buttons and then immediately following with the key you want assigned. (Be sure not to move the mouse away from the button until you’ve pressed the desired hotkey.)

When done, be sure to save the hotkeys via the Preferences palette.

PUVTiles, put simply are a hybrid between AUVTiles and GUVTiles. Try assigning all three types of mapping to a model, pressing the UV:small_orange_diamond:Txr button in between so that you can compare the differences.

i would but i don’t have a mac

its like the took a AUV tile and made it so more of the tiles lineup correctly to form more visible patterns rather than spread all over the place.
still makes little sense for hand painting effects on the uvs in photoshop.

Still no UV pelting capabilitys of course.

The map choosing buttons are very nice however

I made a B on the back and a F on the front with PUV and this is the map you get

Funky looking

here is GUV

and heres AUV

pretty neat, are all those menus in the tool palette, must be very long now, hehe.
what about this multiple textures per tool thingy. you should just make a vid with all the new features because who knows when there’d be any real ones released.

Good to hear that Zspheres are improved!!!

The only thing I can think about the new PUVs is that seeing other people’s work, it seems you can do all the texturing in Zbrush and not have to go into Photoshop… though I’m sure there are still plenty of things you acn adjust in PS that you can’t in Zbrush… Levels is something I end up using in 2D, 3D or even traditional media.

Hmm, I guess you can still adjust levels regardless of how it’s laid out.

I got it installed on thursday but it was late so didn’t have a play until last night. I’m using a dual 2.4ghz iMac with 4gb of RAM and managed to take the geometry very easily up to 14 million polygons! Sculpting with absolutely no lag whatsoever! More monster machines can go much higher than this I would assume. I’m not gonna test anything too technical out yet. I wanna get some sculpting done first.

Looking forward to seeing everybody’s work!

Yeees finally!!
The wait is over!
Seems optimized and smooth!

Now I have to wait´til tomorrow to test it out.
Have my parents in law on birthday dinner tonight.
Much to adress for that event!

Now FIVE days after “it’s available” there’s no sign of it.
There is no answer to my email request.
And I don’t know, if I will get the update or if the forgot me. :frowning:

If I had to inform million of customers, I would use a mass mailer
and the task is done in minutes, not weeks!
If it’s a server issue, than kick UncleverBridge! It’s bad! Really bad!

Hi All

Is it just me or is the system that is being used for Zbrush crazy. The Mac version was meant to be released on the 29th of Sept and it is now the 4 of Oct.

I would be interested to know what all the pro’s think of this.

Where they just told “O sorry you have to go out a spend lot of money on a new windows system”

Is it going to be like this every time there is a new version? It has been so long I can’t even remember when I payed for the software. I think it’s been about two years or so. There was one point where I thought the Mac version was a joke and it did not really exists.

Sorry about my rant but in my opinion this is the worst company I have ever has the misfortune of dealing with.

Finally!
I got my email yesterday!!
Download and activation were smooth!
Thanks to Aurick and all the others moderators
for the efforts and engagement!
Happy Zbrushing to every one!
And good luck to all the other that have not gotten
the download link yet!
:sunglasses:

I’m sorry to repeat myself, but WHOA!!! I hope everyone is experiencing the same level of performance boost. Which is a software improvement because I can use the full power of my computer through bootcamp. Great work guys! :+1:
