***** ZBrush 3.12 - for Mac OS X - Available Now *****

what’s the right mouse navigation like?

So still nothing available here. :frowning:

Can we hear something about how many users get their
download link per day and how many are left to be served?

PLEASE!!!

Personally, I’m loving it. You right click and rotate around the point under your mouse. Although it does not seem to work while doing retopology (it just creates a new zsphere when you right click). It’s very helpful when working on extremities such as fingers.

Unfortunately, I have to use a PC at work, so I won’t be able to work on assets in 3.12 at home. I hope they give an ETA on the PC version of 3.12 soon.

The right-mouse button can be used in two ways…

  1. Right-Click allows the same transformations as Left-Click but without the need to locate an ‘empty space’. i.e. Right-Click anywhere to rotate,Right-Click + Alt button allows the same move/scale function as the Left-Click.

  2. Right-Click anywhere to rotate, Right-Click anywhere + Alt key to move, Right-Click anywhere + Ctrl key to scale.

And let me stop there. I love this program. Everything is tight and smooth. Nice job. I love the interface. Thanks for making the finish line Pixologic.:+1: 5 stars.

I registered for the upgrade and got an email with a case number on 9-26-08. I have not receieved an e-mail with the link for downloading. I sent out an inquiry on 10-7-08 in the morning. Nothing yet.
How long did you have to wait?

What´s the right sequens to start polypainting to a premade UV map in 3.12.
Think it looks different to 3.1 or is my memory weak!
Just a simple 1.2.3 a.s.o.

Please email [email protected] and include your purchase information. We’ll get you sorted out.

This is a good news … thank you .

make sure that in your “tool/uv map” section, your uvmap size is set to something bigger than 1024. you should be able to make up to 8k maps.

How about the documentation? It seems to be missing, always get a script error when using the help menu…

Apologies.

got my mac version today, and i love it.

one question, what should i set my compact memory too? i been trying to find a previous post but nothing, i bet there is one but i just cant find it.

system specs:

Mac Pro
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 8
RAM: 6 GB

there is no hard and fast number

i have 8gb, and i set z3 up for 3.5gb If you only run zbrush, and maybe some light programs (preview, safari, itunes) you can give it 2.5-3.5, if you run a lot, maybe 2. If you run nothing else, max it out (you still have 2gb free for the OS (if you set z3 for 4gb)

that gives me plenty to have a 3d program, itunes, and photoshop open at the same time. (and firefox)

Also make sure you clone displacement or texture afterward; it looks like they’ve finished the baking process for normal maps in that it automatically sends the map to the texture palette.

mistafreeze: tx man, i was always wondering because for some reason when i was using zbrush in windows vista 64bit under bootcamp i could go up to 40 million per mesh, and still working really smooth, just a small delay when i wanted to ctrl + z, but right now with 3.12 seems i cant go higher then 20 mil, so idk

hey all

I was wondering if anybody have tested Zbrush on a Imac…

Im planing on bying Zbrush, but are waiting for the trial to test how it would run om my mac…

Any news on when the Trial version arrive?

Its a Imac, 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.4GB Memory,ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB of GDDR3 memory

Cheers

I’m running it on a slightly older model at present with only 1.5GB of ram. I get to about 3 million polys comfortably. Subdividing beyond that causes all kinds of weirdness.

I’m sure that upgrading the ram will resolve most of the crazy. Don’t wait to buy it! My only regret is that I didn’t hit the ‘T’ key back in 2002 or whenever… would’ve changed my entire life.

HEy,

I just purchased 3.12 to use on my iMac.

My iMac is not the very latest release (the one with the upgraded video card) mine is the release before that.

It is a dual core with 4 gigs of ram.

I can run Zbrush great. I was testing out a sculpt with multiple subtools with a total of 10 million pixols and it runs great.

I also did a test with one subtool and I got it to 8 million fine with only a small amount of slwo down (still good enough to sculpt)…

My biggest question is how to customize the output of the normal map. I want to be able to flip the green channel but cannot find out options to do this.

I have exactly the same setup as this, on a 24 inch screen, I could divide one of my models to 21 million polys, and could manipulate it very fluidly. However, it became quite unstable at that point and would crash the normal map generator and projection master was hit and miss, so I wouldn’t recommend ridiculously high poly counts. I was actually surprised it even divided that high, though, I maxed out at 5-6 million using 3.1 with VMWare Fusion.
