ZBrush 2 64-bit Windows Version Now Available

After downloading the new file, run it to install ZBrush to your computer. Do not install it to your existing ZBrush 2 folder! The new ZBrush 2 folder will contain two executables. Simply run the one that's labeled for 64-bit operating systems. ZBrush will automatically use the license file from your previous 32-bit installation.

Are you sure you’re not leaving something out? It certainly did not automaticly use the license from my previous installation, instead it asked me to activate again, which I tried and got an error on my POP code.

Is there a specific place the old install needs to be in order for the new version to find it?

I had to re-activate as well (I installed it to a seperate folder). The POP code they sent me didn’t work, so I had to call them up and do it by phone. A little annoying, but I was finally able to put my other 2GB of RAM back into my machine!

According to the new readme file, it will not function if you have more than 4GB of RAM. Seems odd to me. I hope 2.5 does not have this bizarre limit. Not too long ago I had to return 8GB of RAM due to an undocumented hardware incompatibility and have not yet ordered a replacement(Running on old RAM).

Hi CorDox,

The 64-bit version has not been tested on systems with more than 4 GB of RAM. And it may very well work:) . If you make such a test, please post your results here. We would definitely like to have feedback, either way.

Kickassss!!

At last I can erase that old winxp32 and it’s ancient memory limits away for good! Since 3dsmax9 64-bit was released the only reason I’ve kept XP 32bit was Zbrush.

Now I can wait for ZB 2.5 for another year or two

I’ll be happy to report test results when I have 8GB RAM again…

At the moment I’m confused about something, according to Vista Ultimate x64 task manager, the 64-bit executable is still a 32-bit program.

Though I’m stuck using my old 2GB of RAM, in theory more virtual memory should be addressable to a true 64-bit app… I’m still getting the same memory errors I was getting before with the old version.

Please send an email to [email protected] with your system specs and settings. Include as much info as possible about the error. Thanks.

Thanks Zoocosm,
That sounds great. I’m going to install it this evening.

Awesome… Perfect timing Thanks guys:D

great - there is something happens in developement
I dont have 64Bit

what confuse to me is, that there is develope a new ZBrush2 Version.
I think the next Version of ZBrush is 2.5 ?

The publication ob ZBrush2 64Bit looks like there will be a longer way to 2.5
:frowning:

Great, thank you. Running smoothly in Vista 64bit with 4GB ram.

JackMcRip, this version is still Zbrush 2, now it just runs without problems on 64bit OS’ with 4GB ram.

I am really curious as to your guys’s new Zbrush benchmark test results with zbrush 2 64 bit and how it compares to 32 bit.

can you guys post results here or in the benchmark thread?

I second that!

Has anyone got a link from element5 after contacting them via e-mail? It’s been three days, and all I’ve got is the automatic confirmation message saying that they have received my request.

I could of course call them, but my spoken english is really embarrassingly bad. Hopefully no one at element5 will have to hear it

Ganymedes, have you checked your account at element 5? The new download link might be active and the POP code available beneath it. Jeg har hørt der er influenza epidemi i Norge, så mail ikke til mig. Du smitter måske  Account page.

–E--, my benchmark is .1 second faster with the 64bit version and Vista 64bit compared to the 32bit version on XP. It might be that it is faster than that and it is just Vista clutching Zbrush 64bits speedy feet? (Vista is taking 1 GB out of my 4 GB ram upon startup. Ouch!!) But the important part for me is being able to work at 6-7 million polygons.

Element 5 has two support offices. The one in Germany (+49-221-31088-30) has speakers of just about every European language. Someone should be able to understand you.

Why do i not have been informed by pixologic about the availablity of zbrush 2.5. by email ??

By coincidence i just read on a forum about the availablity.

I am waiting for a long time for this new version , because of switching to a 64 bits xp pro system a long time ago and could not make use of zbrush 2.0 for months now, because of 4 gb memory. and unable to authorize.

Is nobody informed by mail ???

For what reason do people have to contact element 5 themselves for a new download link.

Big problem for people not speaking a foreign language.

Just let element 5 automatically authorize all registered zbrush owners in their system.

The only thing peolple have to do is logging in at their account at elements 5 when registered.

I have a lot off software, but never had to call a department for a download link for a new version of software.

I am always informed by the software makers about a) a new available version and b) a direct download link.

Most software makers of my 3d packages follow this method. ( lightwave animation master etc. etc )

Well, like Frans, I bumped on this topic just because I like to visit the forum twice or more per day, it would be really nice to get an email or something with the good news.Anyway, I sent 2 days ago to Element 5 my order number, sequential invoice number and purchase date (the last one rather useless apparently…), I got the automatic response to notify me they got my email, and I’m still wondering about the actual link email. You know, I am not going to phone to anybody, I don’t feel very comfy with my rusty english, I just wait for a nice link…

Frans, this is not the major ZBrush 2.5 release, but ‘merely’ an updated ZBrush 2.0 version that works with 64 bit OSs and 4 GB ram.

I am sure we will all be informed by the newsletter or mail, and our Element 5 accounts automatically stocked when ZBrush 2.5 is released.
