So, just why is Pixologic giving away ZBrush3 to all ZBrush2 users? Seems rather drastic, give away a whole version up… dosen’t it. Unless they expect SO MANY NEW ZBrush owners that it will dwarf the number of current ZBrush2 users? Just seems very unusual to me.:eek:
I just don’t understand, its not like ZBrush2 didn’t work and they felt guilty or something. ZBrush2 got great acclaim.

#1, Ofer and Co. are a small outfit. Given the impact Zbrush had, and to the extrordinary degree its penetrated the industry…become “omnipresent” if you will, and to the extent that ZB (especially now with zb 3) is in a class all by itself…they probably made so much money with ZB2, they can afford to be more “altruistic” than most companies.
#2 They probably didn’t intend to give away the 3.0 version…the giveaway to registered users was intended for 2.5…what was going to be a less profound advancement than 3.0. But then they ran into the now infamous delay with 2.5, and it got rolled into 3.0, and I guess they didn’t want to go through the ugly mess of calling off the “free upgrade”…which they had every right to do.
To which , I say, theyre suckers I would have paid upgrade pricing for 3.0…so would everyone else. Its completely in a class by itself, and even with the free upgrade, theyll probably make a boatload on corprorate licenses.

Generosity, of course. AFAIK, every upgrade from the beginning has been free, including 2.
I’ve been looking through all of the new Z3 info on Pixologic’s site and, I must say, they did a fantastic job with everything. I know they’ve been incredibly busy with just the programming side of things, so that’s why I’m amazed that they’re able to do such a top-notch job with the design and attention to detail of just about everything they do.
(Well… I did notice a few typos here and there, but nobody’s perfect!)

Nah…they’re “giving” us the upgrade out of pity over how much we’ll be spending on a Cintiq, after seeing the movie one should be in the recommended system requirements…
