ZB3.1 Smooth Brush Behaves Differently

Well that sucks! I don’t suppose it’s possible then to automate drawing a model on the canvas temporarily, changing the brush setting, and then clearing the canvas, all on startup?

That is acutally worth a shot… I will look into it later today

Cool, thanks man! That’d be sweet!

e, this is why you make a macro that first draws a polysphere on the canvas, really small, goes into edit mode, makes all your different brush changes, intensitys, curves etc and render options if you like, then exits edit mode and clears the canvas, i have my startup macro do that and more and it only takes about 2 seconds to run all its actions.
i posted it here:

spaceboy412 - You are able to do this through scripting without having to manually run a script?

What I am trying to do is have zbrush start with settings like this pre loaded through scripting, so that you don’t have to manually run a script everytime you start. It just starts and you are ready to go.

sigh, i guess its too much to hit one button… there is no way to have this run on load up.

Well, I don’t think that it’s a case of it being too much to hit one button, more that you have to remember to do it. Also, can you imagine doing this every time with every application you have? It just wouldn’t be accepted by anyone in any other app.

It appears (as far as I can see) that spaceboy412 is correct. There appears to be no way to automate loading a model before the startup screen.

His method of creating a macro that automates everything that you want to set up though is a good idea. You could even set a hot key to that script so as soon as zbrush starts and you can see the canvas you could just hit one button on the keyboard and have it automate everything that you would want to set up…

Ok, someone help a noob out… how are you opening the brush editing palette with the curve?

I can load a new brush, but can’t edit it, so I can apply the curve.

I’m looking at rastaman’s fix from page 2…

Gareee, good to see you here…
To get to the edit curve for the brush, drop down the Brush menu and click on “Edit Curve” (…I think even just hovering the mouse over it will do the trick).

Thanks. I’m surprised you can;t get to that from the brush palette on the left.

I docked the brush dropdown on the right though, so I should be able to access it a little more easily.

thanks ALOT for the new_smooth3, --E–! it feels just like the old one!

If I try to run the new smooth 3 plugin, when I select it in th edropdown, i get an error message, “interface item could not be found”

EDIT: if I have a tool loaded, and am in edit and draw mode, I don;t get the error message, and I think it works “as advertised”.

Gareee - The script accesses the smooth brush curve palate. Which is only active if you have a model drawn on the canvas and it’s in edit mode. So draw a model on the canvas and go into edit mode first.

Wow! fast response! I actually just edited that post to reflect what you just mentioned… thanks!

Thanks a bunch, --E–! That newsmooth3 plug-in is a most wonderful anti-depressant…

Displaced - Glad you like it

I tweaked the smooth brush again. I personally prefer it over the new_smooth3 brush.

It is essentially the default smooth brush with a reset smooth curve and the intensity tweaked. I am not using the brush mod on this one. try it out! *** Instructions: simply extract all of the contents from each .zip into your Zstartup/Zplugs folder and then in zbrush under Zplugin you will see a “E” panel where each of these plug-ins reside. ***

Very much vanks dearest E for your brushes! I like all plugins!

Anatom:D

Thanks again, --E–; I’ll give it a spin!

MMM!!! More smoothie goodness! Thanks!
