This isn’t anything I need, but something that should be added because of the unique workflow. When you close ZBrush, it asks you if you want to save changes made to the document, but not the tool. I think it should ask both
The world of 3d mice is one that is rapidly growing - creating a two handed workflow where one hand controls the space and movement of the “camera”, and the other hand is free to edit with mouse/wacom/etc. I have just learned about this and was sad to find that Zbrush is not on the supported applications list (which is very large and growing).
I wanted to bring this up here and make a request that at some point in the future support for these devices (which should not be hard to do) be implemented into Zbrush - with any luck in Zbrush 4!
I can tell you right now it would be a significant step forward (at least for those of us who are acquiring 3dmice - especially those from 3dconnexion) in workflow and continuing to strip away layers of processes which interrupt creative flow. Zbrush commonly heads in this direction, which is excellent! Building in support for these devices would certainly be another step towards that goal.
For anyone at Pixologic reading this, please make note of it for the future. If not with zbrush 4 ( ) then at some point after!
Thank you for reading.
Edit: Here is the link to 3dconnexion, in case you were unaware of it (developers and artists)
but by the time z4 comes out we’ll be able to just use our thoughts:

I need something to distort an image when projecting it to the mesh in regular mode or projection master. You used to be able to do it in ZB2 with the 3D plane brush in projection master, but no longer as far as I know.
For fitting an eye or lips, I’m having to take a screen shot, bring it in to Photoshop and distort my texture there to match the model. Import a new distorted texture for use as a stamp.
What is the exact definition of “PC version: Coming soon” for you guys? I guess I read this the first time 8 month ago? So is “Coming soon” the meaning for 12 month, 24 month, 2 years or what?
My hope is that the plugins for Zbrush 3.5 (once released) are compatible with Zbrush4.
ZBrush for the iPad.
ZBrush for the iPad.
jesssssssssss, that would be fine
I hope with ZB4 and after the difference of version and date of realese are finished. That would be fine
PS: ZBrush for the iPad and also for iPhone would by fine too
any news about ZB4?
I can’t really think of anything to add to the Zbrush 4 wish list…
Other than that I’d like to see a Zbrush 4 eventually.
you mean a release date
I agree. Texture layers would be very useful.
GoZ for Softimage.
Pre-made Zsphere-character model(s).
Also i would like a small unimportant request: new program icon to windows version (i know that we can customize icons but it would be nice to have more choices and not only the same old ZB black logo on white square…).
In every case, Thanks to Pix.
Hi, I haven’t heard if ZBrush 3.5 has been released for the mac yet. Sure would be helpful to use the smoothing tools on the current project I am working on. Sigh!!
Maybe they’ll just wait and release ZBrush 4 for both mac an PC at the same time?
Thanks
Possibly consider an animation zplugin so if you wanted to show more than a turn table animation.
In the zpaintshop, a customizable color pallete (toolbar) or set of color swatches would be great to avoid a constant back and forth through the menus. it would be awsome if it also had the capabilites to paint the uv’s in paintshop plugin
i love this program and can’t wait for the 4rh edition
whens the expected release date?
my ZB4 wishlist (sorry for my bad english):
Standard selection tool (simple clic on desired polygon faces without hiding it).
Standard translation tools (move-rotate-scale without “action line” that’s good just to transpose only but that’s very uncomfortable to translation…).
Texture layering.
Blending mode-layers like Photoshop (multiply, overlay, difference, etc…) to ZB Layers.
GoZ to Softimage.
Pre-made Zsphere character model(s) to posing|rigging it.
(unimportant) New desktop program icon or more than the same old one.
Thank You very much.
In my opinion, yes Z4 is much anticipated and we have all been waiting forever, however, most developers would just move the release date back and that would be the end. At least Pixologic is willing to release some of it’s features in updates to keep their users happy, which goes a long way in my book at least.
Only thing I want for Z4 is greater control over UV, and Displacement map creation. They need to find a happy median between 3.1’s Zmapper and the current 3.5 creation settings.
Im pretty much happy with 3.5 so for me the only thing i really need is a decent better rendering engine, we’ve been using the same engine since zb2 everything has been upgraded since, it makes no justice to the rest of the app
I wish that View Cube for navigation which we all know from several Autodesk Softwares.
And that ZAnimation that has been shown somewhere on Youtube.
I would love to see it in ZBrush 4.
I’d like some additional control for the brushes. In photoshop, using a brush, you can click anyplace on the canvas, move your brush anywhere, hit shift-click, and photoshop draws a straight line between the two points. That would be very useful for creating straight lines in Zbrush.
Also, if you could edit the shape of the Zsketch brush to be cubed or a pyramid, that would be nice.
