'Z' SKETCHBOOK-----Let's draw.

Hello everyone. I have finalized my material and light settings in a document called ‘Sketchbook’. You just draw your tools onto the sreen and pull them away from the clipping plane so the edges render properly. You can add fog and draw at different depths to create lighter pencil effects. Can we have a drum roll? 50.

Hi Five-Oh,

This is a very interesting material. Over the weekend I tried some variations (sepia-tone, conte-crayon, and other “impossible materials”), and had a load of fun “sketching!”

One thing I thought you might try is creating a small ZScript that lets you toggle between variations of the drawing materials and some standard material for building and assembling the objects to be “drawn”.

It brought me back to my art school days and an instructor who always talked about contours and edges making the drawing. Guess he was right!

A great post, thanks!

Sven

Hi Gary! I love that cabin. Hi Sven, the material adjustments seem endless. See what you can come up with. See ya. 50.

Excellent technique and script 50’skid! Great contribution!
Thanks!
Michael

Thanks for this :+1: I’m not sure which of your material settings did the trick for me but now I can use the Best Render without losing the black contours. I thought I had played with all the settings, so this is very much appreciated. Thanks :+1:

From Sarabel Model

Hi Michael, Tveyes, and Frechy, you’re all very welcome. I’m glad you got it working Tveyes, and nice ‘drawing’, Frency! 50.

Hi Kid Of 50
Precision
I can’t name this a drawing, a collage yes
I have nothing draw, it’s the Sarabel creation that I have past with your crazzy sketch

Rich, thanks for this amazing shader. I tweaked with the diffuse in channel 4 and this is what I came up with. Very Burne Hogarth looking pencil. It’s incredible. This has been buried long enough in the back threads. It’s time to see the light again.

I think it’s a fantastic tool for doing character sheets in an animation studio. You rock, My Brother…

Oh yeah, and NO render time…BONUS!
