Z sculpture

Hello to everyone,

Here is my first post. I’ve been playing with Zbrush and watching this forum for a while,
but I’ve never gone this far with a 3d model.
It’s wasn’t an easy task because I had and still have so many things to learn about this amazing tool.
The base model was made in Lightwave with photo references and in Zbrush for the sculpting
and details.
I don’t know what to do with it. Maybe colormap him and render it in Lightwave or just finish it in
Zbrush.

Hope you’ll like it and please let me know what you think.

I think you did a great job…

Peace,
Rich-Art.

Excellent modelling and detail. It looks like Nelson Mandella to me - is that who it is meant to be?

Thanks guys. Yes jit_gohil I actually wanted to make a sculpture of Nelson Mandela. But it is a younger version of him.
This is the render from another angle.

Very nice work!

Peace,

NickZ.

Really nice model. Nice flow and details…can’t wait to see him painted…

Like you did nickz on your thread I think it is a very good idea to share work with the community.

So here is my base model that you can download.
Sorry the model is not wearing a neutral expression, but I hope it can be useful to someone.

Just have fun with it.

:+1: I dream of having this kind of talent. :sunglasses: I’m way of producing this kind of stuff but it gives me something to aspire to. Outstanding.

This is a top model. Love the details. You should wait for LW 9 and then spend him a nice SSS render

Hey, thelucky, glad you started showing some of your excellent stuff.

Knowing what your abilities and capabilities are, I agree with the previous post : You should go to realism and start texturing him over a SSS base, just like a good ol’ silicone head. This one has potential to be a great job if you achieve it.

Now for some crits, and as far as I’m concerned, some pores are a bit overdone on the cheeks and a bit too parralel too - in the opposite, it seems that there’s not enough texture on the upper lip…
Please note that I don’t know your model at all, so I may be wrong ! But it was that detail that caught my eye at first sight.

I’m looking for this one to be done !

Bye !

Thanks for your comments. It’s very nice.

Yes Erklaerbar, I can’t wait to get the new LW 9 and try to work with SSS render and Adaptive Pixel Subdivision.

Right now I’m just posting a test render made in Zbrush.

The hair and eyes were done in lightwave and the compositing with PS. (I’ll take more time with lighting setup and speculars for the final image)

Also, it needs a lot of work on the color map. And please don’t look at the teeth. The shadows make them blotchy.

Davlin,

I’m happy to hear from you.
You’re right, the pore texture on cheeks needs to be softened down, but I’ll wait for the test render with SSS, because a translucent material will make the texture less obvious.zbrushrendertest.jpg

Welcome. Great job ! I could tell who this was right away. I too can’t wait for LW9. Keep posting.
mm

really nice job, look slike him, younger

Wow.
I saw the thumnail and said, “damn, that’s a good Nelson Mandella!”
Nice work man!

~Mike D.

This is coming along wonderfully. The part I appreciate most, it does not appear static like so many others. You have done your self proud sofar.

F A N T A S T I C !!!
truly.
(I hate you already:D )

Thanks a lot for all your kind words.

It is so encouraging to see those great replies by people I admire (some for years). [monstermaker](member.php?u=33031), I almost had a heart attack when I got up this morning and saw your reply:). I’m keeping a lookout for the LW9 upgrade. It is such a nice program but I’ve always wondered why it took so long to implement SubSurface Scattering. [Cral](member.php?u=15818), like Davlin you’re right I will adjust this part. Thanks man. Well for now I’m going to finish all the maps and make him ready for a final render in LW.

Until then I’ll post intermediate Zbrushed versions of him.

good job on that i like the lips and the wrinkle of the eyes :+1:
