in that case. amazing art direction
Thank you!!!
Hi Cédric! I watched Imago, again. Such a beautiful short… . Totaly agree with Disco Stu.
! Too bad it’s duration is only 10 minutes… . Oh well, guess I’ll watch the Champion’s League… . No… better stay on ZBC… .
Thanks Disco Stu and Etcher for Imago! cross you fingers for my next project…it’s the same kind of art direction but for 80mn movie!
Etcher…THE CHAMPION LEAGUE??? are you kidding me??
OK…the match between Liverpool and Chelsea was incredible
And hop here’s a TTM update!!
MARTIN is finished!!
I’ve learn a lot with him… i wanted to have a more detailed model (but not too much to fit with my skecthes!!) And i realized that, after a quick transpose test, i will have to resculpt some parts… So finally, i’ve spent too much time on my others models
but it’s ok…when you learn it’s never a waste of time to redo things…So after the final pose, i’ll retake the belt and some pant’s creases…But i’m happy…the project is moving in the good direction!
Next step : Lets get back to babes!! LINE is my next sculpt and than GRAND MA…
ONE QUESTION : does anyone has Anatomy references for an english bulldog? I’ve plenty of photos but i need anatomy sketches in order to sculpt MARTIN’s best friend! thanks!!!
[
](javascript:zb_insimg(‘136845’,‘WIP_MARTIN06.jpg’,1,0))Pfeew 80 minutes that sounds like a bunch of work.
Sadly i guess you wont be able to create a thread for that here
I really like the update.
Flatten and pinch is working really nice on your folds.
How are you going to render the characters? normal mapped?
Heres some little reference.
http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/218394
Theres some views you dont find normally at least.
Tried searching in german didnt really turn out different then english
Hey Disco Stu thank you so much for the reference! i’ve to find it for free now!! it will be a good base for sketches.
Regarding the animated feature film thread, ithink i’ll post a lot of things in a dedicated blog and i’ll post some examples here
But you’ll have to wait 2010 i think
For the rendering i don’t have a clue!!!
In my idea, i’d like to render them with an architectural material and ambient occlusion…a skylight with FG…
Than i deliver the file for 3D printing and go to find the money ;)… after that i think i’ll start the texture work…
but i don’t know how i’m going to bring all the characters back in xsi…
I’m still a newbie for normals and displace maps…so i guess that i’ll make a lot of tests…
During “Antoine in the forest” i did displace and normals maps but the sculpt wasn’t as precise and subdivide as TTM characters…
If anyone, a senior member, a Pixologic moderator or a rendering genius could help me to find the good solution!! i’m listening!!!
Quote:“does anyone has Anatomy references for an english bulldog?”
Your wish is our command, Master! Well, ok, admittedly, it’s not a bulldog, but I think it’ll do fine for the general structure.
Pulled from:“Anatomy Drawing School” by Andras Szunyoghy and Gyorgy Feher
Keeping my fingers crossed regarding the animated feature!
Martin looks great! Make sure the three stripes on his shoes don’t look too much like those of a well known brand (stupid lawsuit trouble…)
Lookin’ forward to the next update!

I’m keeping an eye on this thread. If you need any help with mocap for your film please let me know. I know these don’t fit the standard MOCAP style but it would work and give you a good base if you are doing a movie
thank you guys for your comments and your help!
Etcher: Thanks for the references! What stripes ?
No really i agree with you, i’ll remove one of them… but maybe A…S can be interested in bringing a bit of money? We never know
themightyflog: thnaks for your interest! In france we have several studios which do mocaps…And for now, i’ve to admit that i’m not very found of this technique…it gives a strange feeling that your characters are real people without being one… i often have the feeling that the actors behind this overplay their role…so at the end, it’s too much…even when the character don’t need to move there’s always a slight movement as if the character was slowly dancing…
Maybe i haven’t work with the good persons and i’d be very happy that you show me tests that could change my mind! i come from illustration and traditionnal 2D animation, that’s also why i’m a bit narrow minded
But really, if you show me what you can do, i’ll think about it!!
Thank you for your help I am going to be able to attack the bulldog soon!!
For now, let me introduce you to MOUTCHO and PITROUILLE which will be a parenthesis in my actual job till the end of the month (i’m gonna find time for TTM any way!! )
It’s a TV series project for kids (preschool kids)…I had to put it aside while I was working RINTARO’s film. But the CNC (national centre of cinematography…a very important french organism) gave us some money to develop this pretty project and I’ve to deliver elements to justify their financial support. But i’m late!!!
So yesterday, after having finished MARTIN’s sculpt, I made the BG’s low poly that i’m quickly going to work in ZB before using the same method as " Antoine in the forest " for the colour.
I took out the 2 old modelings of MOUTCHO and PITROUILLE who are ready for making animation tests. However I have decided to refine their modeling under ZB so I am going to work on them this weekend!
I hope that you will appreciate this coloured parenthesis

i was like hmm that looks like yonas work on that thumbnail
great stuff
woooohoooo. yona you do such a great job. the sketch is awesome and the latest characters too. i like your work and it makes me happy that you are pushin it forward.
great job on the character. Its a simple model thats not too crazy on z-brushing but fun to look at just the same… keep up the good work.
Cédric, thanks for posting the MOUTCHO and PITROUILLE pics! ! Beautiful, so jealous regarding your watercolor technique!
!
The finished Martin looks great and I can´t wait to see his best friend. Woof
The Moutcho and Pitrouille project is so cool, too.
Your watercolour technique is fantastic and the characters are really funny and cute.
Still don´t know how you find enough time for all these projects.
Thanks Etcher! in fact i was thinking that even if you do your BG yourself i can help you just by watercoloring it…it could be great!!
You’re sculpting technique is not so far away from my approach so i’m pretty sure that it would be an effective collaboration
Thanks Moni-Poroni! How do i find time for all these projects?
Well, i’ve spent 2 years working on a project without having time for mine. So now, i work from 8am to 22pm on my projects…AND I LOVE THAT!!! i love my work and the people i develop my projects with…They believe in the fact that i’ll do my best to make the best picture i can do…i don’t want to disapoint them…they trust me, i trust them…it’s a huge motivation…
and also i’m lucky to have a wonderfull wife who supports me what ever happens ;)… that’s how i find time
Hello guys!
Today i’ve worked a lot on Moutcho and Pitrouille!!
I sculpted the tree and i’ve started some rendering tests…
I’ve still a lot of work work to do on the texturing… i’m gonna use zappling to fix all my problems, i also have a loooooot of work to do on the grass and the plants…you can see on the right of the tree few plants that i use…i have to make an other colored version… than i’ll to work on the colour of the ground in order more variations on the grass (the color of the grass depends on the color of the ground…)
You can’t see the ZB work on the tree, because it’s a constant shader pass…but i’ll use my displace map and normal map in the ambient occlusion pass which i’ll colored to add nice details…
And of course there will be shadow pass etc etc…
Than i’ll have to finish the sculpt of the characters and their texturing before “transposing” them!!!
i wanted to share this step of my work with you
[
](javascript:zb_insimg(‘137081’,‘MOUTCHO_WIP02.jpg’,1,0))Hey Cédric, these updates are lookin’ great! Man… those watercolors… fun and refreshing! So well done !
Cédric, an infinite thank you for your help offer on the BG stuff! I won’t forget that! I think we will exchange some more ideas on collaborating once I get some BG’s and more characters out !
Thanks again for taking the time to share the MOUTCHO and PITROUILLE pics!
I love every update you’ve made! Charactrs you’ve made are all great! I can read their personalites very clearly, realy awesome work! And the Watercolor renders are fantastic. The movie will be great! Can’t wait to see it
Thank you guys!!
Etcher: thanks for your support regarding watercolour! i loooove watercolour as you can see
Bryzol : Thanks for all your comments! as i don’t have any final result either in TTM project or Moutcho and Pitrouille yet, it’s always fortifying to be supported by talented graphists!
I hope you won’t be disapointed by the final result
Here’s a new update of Moutcho and Pitrouille.
I’ve finished to clean the texture for the tree. i’ve also arrange the grass. I wanted the grass and leaves on the tree to look like wool (but with a graphical touch)…So i’ve spent a lot of time on it…i’m quite happy with the result…i’ve add details such as flowers, rocks (i have to correct their textures)…Anyway, the BG will be over tomorrow i hope (i’ve no more time arrrgggghhh)i just have to add ambient occlusion and shadows…a bit of composite and Hop!!
Characters will follow
Hope you will like the update!
COMMENTS and/or ADVICES are welcome!!
