Yona's Little Adventures...

stop putting xsi frames arround your watercolour 2d images.
no one will buy that its 3d  :+1:

HAHAHA!
now you know my secret

hey cedric just saw your short IMAGO it’s really great work.but i asked myself did you just work in 2d for IMAGO or did you use some 3d bases for e.g. the plane which we can see there? an 80mn movie with this quality ?! holy sh** it would be great. :+1: :+1: :+1: the new updates here are so cool i cant get it how you got that coloring skillz.for me there’s nothing comparable, so lovely and detailed work although the characters are stylized it fits perfectly.

Hi everyone!
Al.tintop : I’m glad that you liked Imago! thanks a lot!
Technically speaking, the plane is a 3D model textured with watercolor. I had to put a 3D plane inside the plane textured with the animated sequence (the boy or his father) when i wanted to add the characters. There’s a lot of 3D taht you can’t really see…the sea gulls for example are sometimes in 3D… the BG in the big scene where you can see the little bow growing is in 3D…i didn’t know the camera mapping at this moment so i’ve spent so much time texturing each elements one by one… and i didn’t know the lighting too so i’ve done a huge part of lighting during the composite, using tracking and masks

for TTM’s characters i’ll texture and render them at the end after the posing. I’d like to send them to Ownage first  . I have to find the money because for 7 characters and a bus it will cost a lot

I’ve started to draw the final composition in order to see the posings and BG… i’ve so much work left to do.

Today, i’ve decided to get back to TRAVEL TO MAMA… i’ll be back to MOUTCHO and PITROUILLE next week.
Maybe i’m gonna finish all the low polys first (Grandma and the bulldog) before sculpting in ZB.
So today, i did LINE lowpoly…she’s as gorgeous as her twin sister MIA…
it’s just the low poly but i think that you can see her future “glamorous” shape

hope you will like the wip

Beau will defintly be in the top list! keep going!!!

Wow, Yona, what a great way to see this form, just looked through your thread and it is inspiring to see, can’t wait to see what you do with your 2 months  It is nice to just sit and work on your own thing for a while. I just did that for a week (freelance is the way to go :D) and I love how focused you can get. Keep it up!

M.

haha sry etcher

What a spectacular wip. Amazing work, really inspiring stuff, both in traditional art and it cgi transposition/intertwining.
I’ve just been reading it all through and it’s been a grerat read. I’ll stick around.

Great new updates, YONA!
And this whole ELVIS thing is so funny! I really had to bark…ehm…I mean laugh.

your project looks like its going well, don’t stop!

thank you again for your advice on the clothing, and the photo reference, I’m sure they will help a lot. I’ve decided to re-sculpt the base model a bit more, so I’ll give the clothes another shot in the next day or so.

about the clothes, would you recommend using a cloth system/dynamics to try and simulate it? I’ve heard it can be very hard to pose w/ multiple subtools… I want the finished pieces to be a sculpted pose, though I would like to rig and animate him eventually.

thanks as always for your advice!

Hi!
Thanks Moni-Poroni, Maxim_fleury, maxinkuk and talster!
i’m not so far away from the end of the sculpt part… 1 more month i think.
I’ve asked to a good friend of mine to work with me on the rendering… I think that if i want my characters to be as i want i need to work with someone who’s really good in lighting and rendering. ANd this guy is reeaaaalllly good.
But i keep the final render for me with Watercolor bg and all my personnal stuffs
a quick update. Just the turn of Grandma…ready to go to the lowpoly.
next week i’m gonna get married so sorry but i don’t think i’ll have time for a daily update!
