Yona's Little Adventures...

Very cool. I plan on doing some similar cartoon kids for a project at work. I am very curious to watch how this piece comes together. I need some pointers.

Yeah!!! Only a basemesh, and it’s already full of character -Great! so, once again “sculpt like the wind” Cédric  :+1: .

The fantastic world of Yona !

Yeah, there it is – the eagerly awaited update! Cant wait to see Emrold (you always have some really nice names for your models!) and the first Zbrush shots! I like the way you did the hair! Very stylish. I wish my wireframes would look like that! After 3 hours retopo theyre still messed up. I guess Im doing something wrong. Regarding my update... eehh... Im working on it…still working on it…
How many SubTools did you have on the little Nightmaker? Im getting nervous.. 97 SubTools currently and thats not the end.

Hi guys

daugaard47 : thanx for your comment. what kind of pointers do you need?
Etcher : i’ll try to sculpt like the wind today  and what about you my friend?
gpepper : merci de ton soutien! il est tombé un peu de neige dans les alpes?
Moni : i’ll start Emrold today. It’s saturday, i can’t sleep so what else can i do?
regarding my wireframe, don’t forget that i do my basemeshes with xsi… so it’s much more easier to be clean and close from my reference.
how many subtools for my night maker…hummm… tough question…
almost 30 masks with in each 4 parts (eyes, mouth, nose,…) = 120 subs

  • 10 arms/legs + 12 lights + the clock and the base = almost 160 subtools.

heh that little guy is awesome…

Good morning! About 160 SubTools …whew… thats a lot!!! Way more than I have at the moment. Although I dont have a problem with my computer…(so far;)) it just makes me nervous to see so many tools in the list.
Haha… you cant sleep? Thats excactly the same “problem” Im having... guess what Im doing.

hai love your work man …nice concept in your workflow…

hi guys!

robo3687: thanx man!
Moni :well if you’re zbrushing and if you have so much subtools…you have to show us on what you’re working on missy! just for you to know, i could have so much subtools in my scene only because, when one of them was finished to sculpt, i decimated it. The idea is to keep a high resolution model for backup and final image but when you sculpt a specific subtool, you don’t need to have all the other subs in high rez. Instead of lowering the subdivision it’s helpfull to have some decimated subtools just to keep the final look and be sure that what you’re sculpting fits with the other ones…
mohamed raoof: thanx man

Today i’ve decided to work on Emrold, so here is a work in progress of my lowpoly. This character is so fun to make!

yeah he is great…looking forward how you finish this journey…

I like your Work! Your last project the little nightmarecritter was great!,
and the last page of your “making of” makes me laught!

How is your girlfriend?

Keep Rockin!

Good morning again! …another sleepless Zbrush night. I promise Ill post an update soon. Its almost done… wohoo… I didnt post a new model for more than 4 months or longer. Its definitely about time!
Thank you very much for the tips… unfortunatly this method doesnt work at the moment. The reason why I cant do it this way is that theres no Decimation Master Plugin for 3.5 yet.. and it would take way too long to export and import more than 100 SubTools into 3.1 and back to 3.5. But I still dont have problems with my lousy computer, so its not a problem. :) Great that Zbrush can deal with so many SubTools! I saw that you updated again. Didnt expect to see Emrold here today. Hi Emrold, nice to meet you.
I though youd need longer for his basemesh but youre super quick! Emrold is such a fun character. 100% YONA style. :+1:

And Hop!
Here is the final version of Emrold’s basemesh!
Now i’m going to work on the leather aspect of his cape… make all the metal stuffs older…a lot of work on ZB!!
I have to close all the geometry of the little boy too (especially for his hair) because i’d like to make a 3D print.
Hope you’ll like this update.

let’s get back to ZB very soon!!!

Yep, I like this update! Seeing your characters come to life like this ALWAYS brings a smile to my face! :+1: .

tres bien

Hello every body!
Here’s the posing of my 2 characters done thanks to transpose and subtool master.
As i want to print these 2 i had to find a way to consolidate the back of the sculpture as they are tilted. That’s why i’ve decided that Emrold can play music. The music partition will help, as you can see on the pictures, to make the sculpt stand up.
Now let’s start the sculpt!!!
