Yona's Little Adventures...

Supercool! Can’t wait to see the two of them sculpted! :+1: !

dude, u do some epic work…i CANT WAIT!

Hi guys! and thank you for your support!

does anyone can help me to find nice tutorials on xsi for the skin shader?
if you don’t find any on xsi, it’s ok on max or maya too… i’d like to find a clever way to make the skin of my hero… not completly realistic but with all the advantages of the SSS…
I’d like to work a lot on the texturing part to keep a 2D aspect.

I’m gonna ask d8Ds to help me
His work on Mei is great reference but if you have any advices for me, i’m listening!

Gnomon has a great skin shader tutorial. I’ve used it several time. It’s called “Skin Shading with Mental Ray Chapter One: Working with the Fast-Skin Material.” It’s hidden away in the free tutorial section. It’s a maya/mental ray tutorial but you may be able to use it with XSI.

p.s. loved the making of, and don’t shave the beard! :stuck_out_tongue:

 i think this is good source if you wanting to know the “why” part,i guess this can be applied to any 3dsoftware SSS

The amount of good sculptures shows how fun you have doing your work in Zbrush. I like this style :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Hey Cedric, finally youve posted something! :) The new sketches are great as always. Is this a personal project? The little robot is phenomenal. Great design -- I love him! Cant wait to see the first Zbrush screenshots.

Hi guys!

still so much work to do for my company! But i will start “Little H” lowpoly next thursday. Here are the last sketches of my 2 characters with turn-arounds and details in order to prepare the modeling and the sculpt.
And in the bottom right corner you can see what will the final sculpt be.

rad66203 and dhasian : thanks! it’s very helpfull!
Dali.P. : Thanks man! now i have to finish them!
Moni: Dear lady, this a new project for my company. But as it’s one of my project, it’s as if i was working for me!

Ok Disco i’ll try

i got it
but for now, except for this project, i can’t show you! you’ll have to be patient!

I dont see sketches in this post, neither poligons, ztools or textures…

I see LOVE.

Dear mister, ok, I understand.
Lovely new sketch! Still one week until you start? :(… I try to keep waiting patiently.

You won’t have to wait till next week, i’m working on the low poly right now

Hey Cedric. The new sketches look cool. Love the robot. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress on your new project :+1:

Fantastic news on a rainy morning!

Hey Cédric, great new sketches! So looking forward to the updates !!!

your friend Geert.

Gentleman : thanks! it’s the nicest compliment i’ve ever heard.
Moni : Hey where are your updates too young lady? do you want me to come in Gemany to kick your azz?
Captain : the robot is in progress! i’m glad you like it
Etcher : now that i’ve update my thread you have to do the same. Hope you’re fine and work hard!!

Finally!!!
i’ve just finished my first low poly since august!
It’s so exciting to work on this character! especially because i’ll go till the texturing and rendering.
i’ve spent so much time on the hairs, but it was very important as it’s, in a way, the signature of this little man. I’ll fix all the little problems during the sculpt but before i prefer to work on EMROLD the robot first.

Hope you’ll like the update
see you veeeeryyyy soon

and here are the wireframes…
You can see that there’s no loop for the mooth for example…as i will not animate this character, i didn’t want to spend too much time on the mouth…I’ll sculpt it directly on ZB as if i was drawing it.
Normaly i don’t subdivise my basemesh so mush, but when i bring my basemesh from xsi to ZB and subdivise it, i lost sometimes the inital shape…that’s why this time i’ve decided to subdive it…Anyway i will subdivide a lot again in ZB so …
I know it’s not a wonderfull wireframe and i didn’t respect the rules of the the perfect modeler

but it’s ok for what i want to do with this character
please don’t shoot me …
