you are right cedric, that’s what i wanted to say maybe it was not so understandable. when i just got little time i only look at the thumbnails at zbcentral and then just open the good ones, if i got more time i open your thread and look whats up in here
i copy my post in Cgcoach :
Here’s a new udpate.
This step is important for me as i don’t have especially a lot of time to spend on this contest. So i have to find a clever way to work on it on time without loosing the pleasure of modeling and sculpting.
the NIGHT MAKER looks like a big puzzle of masks, expressions, hands etc… so i’ve prepared all i need for the basic form of my little budy.
I’ll prepare a 1st version of him than i’ll use more lattices to make each mask singular…i’ll be able to turn all the eyes, mouthes etc…so i’ll be able to have a wide range of expressions with not so much modeling.
Than i’ll add more details and probably very singular masks.
I’ll use the same mesh both for arms and legs and 3 kinds of lights that i’ll modifiy if i need more …
Well let’s start the modeling!!
C&C are welcome
Nice work! I’ve enjoyed following your threads. It’s a great reminder how quickly you can turn something out if you just sit down and do it and don’t get lost in planning or making elaborate meshes that keep you from starting and eat away at that initial inspiration.
Ha! the CG Coach stuff looks so cool! Again, love, love the looseness and fluidity of your drawings. That sculpt is gonna’ be so cool! ! How do you keep comin’ up with those wonderfull ideas man… .
Hi YONA, your pu-ZZ-le concept-sketch is wonderful!
I´m looking forward to seeing how all the puzzle parts coming together.
Hope you won´t forget one… erm, well… I don´t think you will because:
You´re the maaan with the plaaan.
spaz8 : haaaa, you’re so right. I’ve spent so much time during the past 5 years working for productions with silly planings or stupid retakes that i’ve decided to get back to something simple. I like a skecth? ok i should draw a bit more to be sure that i can’t do better…but sometimes it doesn’t work like that…sometimes you can have the feeling that this first sketch is the good one… That’s how i’ve worked on TTM’s project… for some characters, it tooks time (MARTIN, GUIDO, LINE) and for some it tooks only 5 or 10 sketches to find the “good” design (GRANDMA, ENZO, MIA and ELVIS). For this project i wanted to be efficient, fast and quickly have 3D models on which i could base my preproduction work. Maybe i’ll have to redo them, it’s probably sure… but by modeling them like this, it’s as if i was making a big step on my project what ever happens…
So thank you for your support and i hope that you’ll find time to do the same!!
Etcher : Thank you so much… it’s a pleasure to spend time for my personal work… for the past 2 months, i had a lot of proposals for work but i’m not sure that i’ll accept them (except one for a film ) because i have so much fun working for me and my company or by only teaching. I don’t have to much money safe so i’ll have to work soon. For me the latter will be the better… So it’s as if i was rediscovering how to draw…and it’s refreshing…
Moni : HHAAAA Moni, again, thank you for your unique support
I’ll do my best for the watercolor, just be a little more patient
And YES I’M TH MAN WITH A PLAN :
1/ this morning : GRANDMA’s modeling!
2/ this afternoon : CGCOACh update!!
that’s the plan!!
see ya!
HAHAHAHA
GRANDMA is the funniest character i’ve worked on since GUIDO!
I can’t help myself laughing at her with her 2 teeths lefts and her scary/cute smile!!!
Sorry Moni, the man with a plan, is going to work only on GRANDMA today because it’s too much fun!!!
hope you’ll like the old lady
[
](javascript:zb_insimg(‘140260’,‘WIP_GRANDMA03.jpg’,1,0))DONE!!!
i wanted GRANDMA to be done today! and i did it!!! ouffffff
Elvis will be the last character!!!
I like her…she makes me laugh… she’s not pretty, she’s not ugly but i can feel that she’s a great grand mother, very sweet with MARTIN (even if doesn’t really care…)
Guys i’m close from the end of posing and modeling… and i don’t even know what i’m going for the textures
AAAARRGH the unfinishing project
[
](javascript:zb_insimg(‘140305’,‘WIP_GRANDMA04.jpg’,1,0))Yeah man i can see that your having fun it shows!
Looks great
looks really funny. first granny i’m really in love with you did it another time.
all your stuff here is awesome. all the characters just fit together perfectly
Yeah this is great! She makes me laugh, too!
This old lady looks very friendly, funny and she is a great grandmother for sure.
Great job! And…ok… I´m not angry that you didn´t work on the little Night-Maker today because I really like this old lady.
PS: I wish I´d have those teeth. I could open cans with them.
(The lower tooth is a little bit unpractical, though.
A leak in the can´s bottom wouldn´t be cool. )
My family visited me today. Now they went home and I have time for Zbrush. Finally.
I´ll start with the base mesh of my critter/creature.
Unfortunately I can´t enter now because I can´t post my sketch (I don´t have a scanner here)
Therefore I´ll have to wait until monday.
Salute.
Man, great!!
very fun indeed, awesome work!
Your stuff reminds me of studio Ghibli’s work somewhat, but with a different twist to it…
cheers!
thank you all for your support!! it’s very motivating!!!
Grandma rocks!!! Great sculpt! She’s gonna’ be so cool when animated: I can already see her walking around, interacting with the dog, talking (what sound of voice would she have?) Fun, fun, fun! Sparks the imagination!
!
Roh ! Mamy est excellente !
Yona, this is a wonderful thread !
I followed it until the beginning but I still haven’t let my comment.
I also took a look at your short animation film and it is one of the most inspirational film I have ever seen ! a great use of 3D to make 2D…
see ya !
Etcher!! thank you guy! i’d like to see her animated too…maybe in 2 years
Maybe Jeanne Moreau would be great for her voice! i hope she’ll be still alive in 2 years !
Gpepper thank you for your comments…Imago is still my little baby, so i’m always happy when somebody like it!!!
copy from cgcoach:
i couldn’t help myself starting the lowpoly… So i’ve started 3 masks with differents shapes in order to multiply them quickly…I think that if i have a plan, i will have to do more shapes than i thought…but it’s fun so it’s ok.
Of course, i’ll have to sculpt them a lot in order to have the same touch as my sketches…
Hope you’ll like this little update…it’s not a lot but it’s just the beginning
[](javascript:zb_insimg(‘140386’,‘WIP_LNM03.jpg’,1,0))
here’s my last update for Cgcoach’s contest.
I can’t wait sculpting each masks even if i know that i’ll have to spend a lot of time on each one…
But it’s getting more and more fun
hope you’ll like the update
[](javascript:zb_insimg(‘140482’,‘WIP_LNM04_low.jpg’,1,0))
This is gonna be epic.
Again, these simple meshes really capture the forms of the sketch! Love it!
How fast can you work! Do you need two heads, four arms and no sleep? … .
Lookin’ forward to the updates !
