Hey …
very nice detailing on the creature head…
and beautiful sketch…

Thanks Ivar…appreciate that

Love the squid thing on page 1 its awesome, can’t wait to see some more

cool creatures … keep it up

Just want to take the opportunity to make a public thank you to Jason Welsh AKA Canned Mushrooms for all of his excellent tutorials. I would be no where without his guidance and help.

Would love to see the base mesh of the raptor, also your painting techniques.

everything looks great. Nice texturing and really good modeling. The lighting looks a little funny though. I think the lighting on the raptor is too bright and causing him to not look part of the scene. Try lowering the brightness a bit and also doing a mist pass. I think that might blend him into the setting a little better.

Thanks Jesse,
I completely agree with you regarding the lighting and stuff. I need to look at a few more photoshop tutorials and to experiment more. I probably shouldnt have posted this composition shot yet but I was excited as its the first painted model ive done and the first time ive managed to put stuff together into a scene. I will try to play with lighting and re post.

Just playing in photoshop again. Gonna go back and look at canned mushrooms tutorials.

there are a some great models here !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hey!

Thanks for the nice coment on my thread!

Just clicked on your profile and realised you were the dino guy!
Had a quick look at these before and they are well cool!

I do a lot of traditional illustrations of dinos for kids toys and games and stuff so I’m dino mad but not got round to trying one in ZBrush yet and I won’t even bother now as I can’t compete with yours! lol!

Maybee when my modelling/texturing has improved!

You mentioned to someone how you did the skin Texture form an elephant alpha!? any more ‘idiot guide’ tips on how you do that!?

Once again these are great! and that bronze head needs to be real and in my studio on my shelf!
You have solid drawing skills too!

Keep up the good work!

Keep on Z-ing!

Great stuff in this thread, very cool models and dino’s rock! :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish I had some better control over zspheres and their resolution like you do. Your models are detailed nicely…are you using reference material?

Thanks AA Ron, Z3phon and Fishadder for your very kind comments. I suppose I am the “dino Guy” as its all I get asked to sculpt.

Heres a velociraptor test. I have to do two versions with the next one being feathered.

Composition is an art form in itself! Every composition faces a different challenge, but the beauty of having your critter done in ZBrush is that you have full control of your character! This means you can render your character to meet the needs of your background and foreground elements. I came across a Photoshop tutorial yesterday that may be a fun read for you as well.

I love the way he made “god rays” for his underwater world. Another trick I haven’t seen anyone use with ZBrush is a light gobo. Its just an object that casts shadows on your character it could be leaves, branches, whatever. In certain cases it adds grounding to the composition.

Your an excellent artist! Dino frigin’ saurs great subjects, so you keep making them, I’m going to continue looking at your work!

wow Hyper./…praise indeed …thank you.

The link you posted is brilliant though I may curse you in advance for all the sleepless nights I have while I fumble through the tutorials like some demented Mr Bean character.

Again, thank you.

The only thing I can really suggest to make your renders and comps even more amazing would be to cover up more of the model almost. I too am just learning really what photoshops capabilites are and how to comp multiple images. If you were to cover up, say the feet and legs more with foliage or something of the sort it might make it look like the dino is set into the scene.
