this is a character i’ve been working on for 2 days, it was sculpted in zbrush, rendered in 3ds max/vray and then composed in photoshop.
The usual story is that i get very excited about sculpting something, but then few days later i loose all interest and the model ends up in a wip folder for the months to come.
Hovever with this character i saw it through to try on photoshop composing techniques and solve the problem with not enough detail showing up in the vray renders.
The solution was fould - render out a grey model with a specularity and a normal maps applied and then put it on top in the photoshop or after effects if you are doing animation. As a standard renderer in 3ds max seems to have no problem with properly displaying normal maps in it’s renders.
