Thanks and don’t worry, it is OK

Hi! Thanks a lot! Yeah, I find that low key lighting with strong rim is much easier to do than other types of lighting. Cause for me it is a headache to find a good balance between key and fill lights and not make my model to lose its volumes.
Thanks again and good luck with your project too :+1:

I found pretty cool that your journey congratulations keep up the good work

Thanks Jhon, Glad you like it.
Here is a small teaser to my current project. Decided to do asymmetrical sculpting. It is based on drawing by Shirow Masamune. I would be glad to post a link to site with his works but I’m afraid ZBC will not allow me to do that because of the adult nature of its content. But feel free to ask me via PM if you are interested.
Surprised it is not so hard to do asymmetrical sculpts. And it is definitely much more fun than doing characters in a rest pose. To be honest I’m not really fan of anime style so I don’t know if I would sculpt the head (those ridiculously huge eyes, leaving no space for the brain ). But from the other side it would be a good experience and it is nice to leave comfort zone from time to time.
Of course it is a wip. Many areas should be adjusted (like knees, torso, breasts etc) or added (panties, pedestal, head, hair etc). Torso is a bit elongated. Partially because the initial style of the 2D reference but also because my tendency to do that. I’m really happy that I found this artist cause his character’s body-types often coincide with my own tastes.
PS In a meantime I’m sculpting a dragon. I wanna make my next heroine to be a dragon-slayer. Plus I wanna practice more on other animals.

Thanks a lot! Great work on Pieta BTW, you did a magnificent job!
Diablo
Heey, thank you very much! I’m glad that you like her. As I said in the description I’m not really sure about the face. The original drawing is in anime style and I’m not a fan of it. But I will try. Just saying that to prepare people that were expecting to see realistic face instead.
PS Yeah, I LOVE gloves and stockings. They look cute and also darken the limbs, accentuating the body.

Incredible sculpt man, her body and pose is so sexy and perfect!! And the glove is awesome too. Keep up the good work looking forward to seeing her finished.

Thank you very much, Kend. Really happy to see you in my WIP!
The torso and figure overall still requires a lot of refinement. And this nippleless breasts disturbing me a lot (their shape should be tweaked too to fit the original drawing). I hope to find more time soon and finally finish the sculpt. Thanks again and good luck.

I cannot believe that I sculpt anime character. Here is a quickly roughed head and hair. Still cannot wrap my head around bony structure of characters like this. Should figure out how this huge eyes are placed within the orbits. And also the cheek fat in drawing is placed quite unusual (below the nose level), making the three-quarter view a bit odd.

Hey, its looking neat so far! :+1:

I too am in the same boat. Whenever I am tempted to do an anime face, implementing the gigantic eyes and tiny mouth with nose, immanently begins to terrify.
Your does not possess this terrifying features, but I respect how you have overcome this struggle.

Thanks for commenting! I’m trying to follow the original concept to make a likeness (this sounds funny because if not the different haircuts I wouldn’t be able to differentiate them). But I’m also modifying the facial features a bit. I found that I need at least small nostrils, I just cannot accept a face with this ridiculous triangle instead. And also the eyes shouldn’t be that huge as some artists draw.
So yeah, the amount of stylization might be different and the border between exaggeration and uncanny valley is really vague. Right now I feel fine while sculpting it but I’m not sure about the moment when I’ll be forced to attach this childish head to a mature female body (could be found just a few comments higher). This combination appears a bit freaky to me

Hahahahah! I found this anatomy picture for you, should be pretty helpful (terrifying!). It’s safe for work, just an anime skull.

Great work though! Can’t wait to see more.

Loool, that’s just crazy :). And I saw examples with even bigger eyes (Example)
Thank you! I hope to end up this project soon. Fortunately the major part is already done.

Looks just great so far. The hair came out really nice.can’t wait to see more. ;)

Thank you my friend! The hair was a real headache. I tried different approaches and still not happy with it so I might replace it with Fibermesh one, though not sure that it will fit the style. It is really surprising that long and wavy hair are far easier to sculpt in Zbrush compare to short haircut with straight strands. In first case they are clumping together, creating nice dynamic and gestural curls while in second case each strand is basically parallel - it looks good with real hair but so boring when sculpted. So I end up with lots of curves to make it more interesting and break the silhouette with stray hairs and clumps

Update. Did some coloring. Jammed nerve still not letting me work at 100% strength . So probably enough for today. Also need to figure out how to make good stylized teeth and fit them better into the mouth since now it looks mediocre.
ZGrab05.jpg

Coming along nicely! the Anime form is quite awkward to create in 3D, and has so many opportunities to go horribly wrong! in your capable hands that doesn’t seem to be a problem! looking forward to following your process ^^

I hope you feel better! Jammed nerves and stuff like that is no fun, especially if it makes doing what you love difficult.

Perhaps, ice pad or bag under a wrist guard or glove while you sleep can help.

Very interested in how you are going to do the stylized teeth in 3D. Should be neat to see!

Thanks guys for kind words and your support.
Decided to rest a bit from sculpting and the last anime character. Did just some simple stuff like modifications to my previous female body and attached (not yet connected) a head. Hopefully she will become a solid character. Already gave her a name Nastya (from Anastasia).
Good luck everyone and see you several months later.
