Another print for the base. More info on my page
Finally got some more resin and finished another piece of the base, placed it on a solar turntable near a window to cure.
Quick update, still printing the base, got the last row that needs to be added and out of that only one piece left to print and the project will be done as far as printing goes, next a lot of glueing, filling and sanding. Next step will be molding and casting.
Printed the head again in grey-blue resin at 40 microns.
Closeup on the details on one of the base pieces.
Did a coat of primer over the PLA print of the wall, there are still a few lines here and there but the plaster mixture with water covered most of them.

Been priming and sanding all day, started a sandstorm…Got a lot more to do to fix some of the seams but it’s off to a good start

Back to this project i’ve been experimenting how to paint and finished painting the head, this is just a test to learn how to paint and make it look decent. Learned quite a lot and will post my progress on the statue here as well.
For the head i did a skin basecoat with the airbrush, i then used several thin layers(glazes) to add more color variation to the skin, more reddish color in the wrinkle crevices, the eyes, the ears cavities and so on, some brownish color on the sides of the head and in the cheek area to match the painting. I tried to keep everything subtle and lighting plays a huge role to get the head to look right, the shadows need to appear in the corners of the eyes.
Speaking of the eyes i also did a satin varnish on the full eyes and did a gloss varnish in the iris. For the hair i did a orangish yellowish slightly desaturated color for the basecoat, did a brownish reddish wash and wiped away the high points to get the crevices darker and then did a drybrush of the same base color on the high points using a flat filbert brush and keeping it more horizontal to get the effect i wanted. Think i may need to do a mat varnish on the whole thing and then redo the varnish on the eyes to have more differentiation between the skin and the eyes. I can also do a gloss varnish on the hair but apply it like a speckle effect, maybe even use a metal color and just add tiny speckles.
Haven’t posted here in a while, forgot about this thread but i’ll post all the updates on painting my Vigo statue, in short the character is almost finished, only need to add a dark brownish wash over the chrome to darken it a bit.
Added magnets to the chest armor and the regular head.
The Wall piece behind Vigo
Aww yes. So cool.
Cheers.
Forgot to post updates here but I finished the statue recently, sculpted a demon head switchout, printed and painted it, finished painting the base, added a double sided small painting with one side being the Vigo painting from the movie and removed him in PS and the other side is the river of slime, each side is meant to be displayed with each head,
