Uruh - The Dark Crystal

Wonderful job on the texturing. Watch that lower bit of plate, which is intersecting the cloth below. :+1:

Fantastic work

…of a dark classic!

looking really sweet, starting to get some life in it with the new pose.

Looking really good. You really nailed the personality in the face. Like the ripped clothing too.

Dude, I hate to say it but posing the head the way you did adds so much to this piece… If you can find a cost effective rigging process for it I’d go for it, even if it’s just to break the symmetry further, but seeing this guy come to life would be unbelievable

Rockin mate :+1: :+1:

Evil Ed tis awesome work dude, props to ya…

So much stronger in this pose - it’s really come to life:+1: and great to see your creative journey.

Thanks guy’s i know what you mean about the posing, it adds allot, i will see what i can do about the hands, as they do look very simular at the moment, evan if its just a case of rigging one arm. The problem i have is that it comprised of soo many differnt assests now, rigging is difficult, i will do my best…

I still have soo much todo on it, i managed to start on walking stick and i gave it a background yesturday which brings it evan more to life… its a danting task, as everywhere i look i have little improvements and extra geomety i need to add. My biggest problem is the spec of my PC, im at the very limit of what i add to my scene… i tried putting the hait on the tail for example, which just crashed my PC… im still only rendering on a draft setting but takes an hour to render… i tried putting some volumetric light in the scene and left it over night to render on production settings and 8 hours later only about a 1/4 of the scene had rendered…

anyhow, thanks for commenting guys it helps allot and i try to push forward for ya

Ouch mate… I’d forget all about fancy schmancy lighting and high res polygons until you’re happy with all the details… That way your time between tweek… w a i t… tweek will be shorter… I ususally have two lighting rigs which I export out seperately so that I can use my cheap settings anytime…

This is an amazing piece Eddie and because you’re going so far with it your workflow leading toward final may suffer… I’ve done some pretty crunchy optimising in the past so anything I can help with just shoot me a msg

Thanks DM… i’ll pm you later

well here’s an update been playing with backgrounds etc… i need to give it a rest for a week or so, as ive developed RSI in my shoulder which is causing me pain everytime i click my mouse.

still loads to do though

You don’t use a wacom???
Nice work though!

lol… yes mate i do use a wacom, but only for detailing and texturing, most the modelling was done in Max

Sweet as a nut Ed, luverly stuff. You should do this for a living…

OK i think im nearly there now… i still see things i could improve on… but i wanna dip into ZB3 now… so i’ll but this through a production render and see how we go

Looking great Ed’, but I still think he’s a bit too upright.

When I see them on screen they seem lower and wider somehow. I hope you’ll try adjusting him with that new ‘Transpose’ feature. Anyway, it’s been good to watch this work evolve. I’m looking forward to seeing it in finished surroundings

Thanks mate… but im just tired of it now

Anyway guys… well is the final result… hope you like it
