Well here it is guys’ my last max project for awhile…
its one of the Characters from Jim Hensons “The Dark Crystal” Uruh i think, im gunna do a few of the characters from the film, but they will be in maya.
Still very much a wip but its getting there, i’ll post the progression to now in the future

I actually resaw this movie a couple moths back, (for nostalgia)
and it’s a classic with some great characters (xept maybe for the geflings, they suck)…
This one looks great already, I wish you luck in finishing it, but maybe your skill is enough… anyway I’d like to see it completed… so work!

I was going to try to make one of the Skeksis a couple of months ago but never got around to doing it!

They are making one. And it is being done with puppetry. Check aintitcool.com for sneak preview shots and news. They have been covering it. I am pretty sure they have a search engine. If you run a search for DarkCrystal 2 you might be able to find what they have about it thus far…

I’m captivated by anything ‘Dark Crystal’, and I’m a big fan of Froud’s work as well.
OK, so we’ve had that ‘Bird-Man’ Skeksis-like creature from another artist here, and now we have a Mystic from you. What I’d like to know though is who’s going to tackle Orgra? She’d look A M A Z I N G in ZBrush, I just know she will.
BTW, that stuff about a sequel is really good to hear. I’m amazed it’s going to happen though 'cause I’ve got a special ‘cell’ Collectors Edition of the original, and among it, I think there was talk that there would NEVER be a sequel because it was ‘Jim-Henson’s baby’ and he is no longer around to see it.
That movie just looks gorgeous, very ‘Froud’, and I hope he’ll be working on the new movie as well 'cause it just won’t be the same if he doesn’t. I also hope that Trevor Jones will be composing the soundtrack - because the original is easily among the best soundtracks ever produced for a movie. I almost paid £400 just for the Vinyl, but was saved when they released a limited number of CD’s 
Also, I often wonder if Brian Froud frequents this forum, and can’t help but imagine what amazing work he’d produce with ZBrush at his disposal. If ever he does turn-up around here with some works - it’ll make my bloody year.
pumeco : thanks man, from what i have read 2008 is the release date… they have cast the voice actors so hopefully it’ll all go forward.
Funny you should say about Orgra, i was planning to give her a go as well, as well as the beatle things, they were so cool… but i got to finish this one first and im still struggling with the tail… i know its not perfect but all the ref’s i have show differnent details, so its more of a roundabout image of them all.

You know, I’m sure there was a website somewhere that had some rare pics of some of these characters. They where quite detailed if I remember well. There was even one that showed a Skeksis’ head broken down into component parts - or something along those lines.
I’ll have a surfing session later, see if I can find them and post the links for you.

There’s a huge amount of stuff on there, but it’s easy to miss stuff - so look closely.
Unfortunately, it looks like the majority of DC sites have disappeared over the years. Shame really, 'cause I think DC will be big news when they release the sequel.
Anyway, for all I know those detail pics could well be hidden on that Habidabad website. If it helps though, one thing I will say about your Mystic is that I don’t think it’s neck is held correctly. I would try giving it a more lower and forward aspect (yours looks very upright in comparison), and perhaps make the fingers a little longer to capture the Mystic ‘outline’ a bit more.
