Twitch's March to Greatness

I really defined the planes on a separate layer then reduced the intensity, I think I’ve got found a good balance between feminine smoothness and defining the facial structure.

I would extend the lips to the center of each eye. Seems like the mouth is puckered right now. Also needs a tear duct and lower eye lid. I would also rough in some hair with a seperate subtool to get a better feel. When i have a character with long hair i add it on the second subd level. It really helps.

Keep it going!

oh and post profile view and 2/3rds as well. It would help us help you. Do you know how to create a character sheet?

Go to document>ZApplink Properties

From there you can mark your front, back, right, left, top, bottom and custom views as well. Then it lays it all out for you on one image.

I didn’t know how to do that. That will help speed up the process. The lower eyelid did kind of get lost with the facial restructuring, but I hadn’t caught that I lost the tear duct, have to fix those things. Thanks, D. I’ll fix those things and repost.

Alright, here you go. I also tried to fix those things you pointed out.

Nice. Isnt the character sheet option cool?

Fix the back of the ears and add some hair and you should be close to done with this one.

Yes, yes it is. I’ve been noticing the ear problems for awhile, so I’ve already gone ahead and I think fixed them. Hair is going to be tricky, I’m almost tempted to take the head into Max and make some hair out of planes, but I’ve never done that before, so I don’t know.

Edit: Alright, I tried to add in some hair, doesn’t look great, but it’s the best I’ve been able to come up with thus far.

I gave up on that sculpt, the hair wasn’t grat, but I’m done with it. Here is a preview of my next sculpt.

He’s based off a painting I was making that quite honestly sucked, hoping the sculpt sucks less.

I would accentuate the eye sockets for the top two a bit more. Give it more depth along the forehead. Also carry that to the other eyes so that they all register as the same body part.

Keep it up.

Thanks, D. I tried to rework the sockets so the eyes didn’t look like they were floating. I also added a lot more texture.

[Dunn2.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘141826’,‘Dunn2.jpg’,1,0))

I tried smoothing him out, just leaving the large forms in like I did with the goblin, but I really prefer this sculpt with more texture. I’m not perfectly happy with it yet, but it sort of has the aesthetic I want.

Yeah i would just work on those eye sockets. Give him some eye lids. Cause thats what you really have to sell to the viewer above all since it is the most abstract.

The upper eyes are angry and the lower eyes look sad. I would definitely play around with that. The details look really cool. Me rikey. I would work on the neck a bit more. Really pull and push those forms.

Also what might help is sculpting these busts to half way down the chest and most of the shoulders. That way we have some proportional comparisons.

Man i cant wait to post some of the work i have been working on for my game company. The sculpts are looking really nice. Finished the sculpting on the boss character and almost done with the male hero. Starting the female hero next month which is gonna be the most difficult for me since i have never sculpted a woman. Never drew them either since i felt kinda perverted cause of their…ahem…large…plots of land.

Hopefully i can tone that down this time around.

Ill post them up on august 5th.

Looking forward to checking those out. Women are indeed hard, my last sculpt was the first time I tried sculpting one, and getting them to look feminine without looking like models is hard, unless the model look is what you’re going for.

I’ll take a look at those areas. The idea of adding eyelids wasn’t something I really considered, but it’s worth looking into. I would like to pull the focus out and develop more of the upper body, maybe I should go into Max and try to develop a solid base mesh for that purpose.

Some colorization of the sculpt. I think things are looking better, and the coloring has grown on me.

Definitely looking very cool! Me rikey.

The eyes look a thousand percent better. Good job.

While I love your critiques, D, it does sort of allow me to wipe some of the sweat from my brow when you fail to do so.

So thanks.

HAHAHA! Right back at ya brotha!

Been awhile since I last posted, but I’ve got a new bust in the works. Sort of similar to my other recent work, but eh, I think it’s coming along. Here’s a preview:

hey twitched,

really nice work here. i like the colored alienhead.
keep up the nice work!

overall the headanatomy of your last looks solid. good blocked proportions!

Thanks, wethand. I was thinking this one might work for you, with the horns and all. Horns are cool. I should make all of my future sculpts with horns.

xD
yeah, horns are really cool! but an angel with horns could look weired…

it just depends on what you are aiming for. anyway, nice sculpt so far. looking forward to see some detail!
