TristanArtForm Works

Hey Tristan - the comment seems to be deleted, but i agree - the clay sculpt is more attractive than the finished textured one. I think the face lacks definition, maybe darkening around the eyes would help, and perhaps making the gums more purple - maybe more suitable than red for a demon like character but still recognizable. Also the teeth do seem to blend into the rest of the face, i’d love them to seem a bit more prominent. Have you done a specular and glossy map for her? In some renders she seems a bit laquered, like she’s been given a coat of varnish. I can see you’ve went for a muted/earthy look specifically but there could defiitely be more colour variation, even if it’s subtle.

I’m really a fan of the sculpt, it reminds me of sado-numspa’s final form in the golden child : ) and I’m still learning the ins and outs of texturing myself, but i do think the texturing could do more justice to it.

Hey Mullet. Thank you for the intelligent critique. The clay renders here are only WIPs and don’t have all the finished surface detail, but I have to agree. I think the color maps I created obscure the form and detail, rather than ad to it. I’ll have to rethink the paint job and do some experimenting.

I didn’t do any spec map. Only color and bump. The glossy renders were me trying to find a way to highlight the surface detail and make it pop back out.

I really have learned a lot on this piece about what not to do in furture, which is a valuable, though not a pleasurable learning experience.

Also, still discovering how to take what I create in ZBrush and translate it into what I want in Keyshot.

New maps. New renders. A couple of “Clay” renders coming up. Then on to a new project at last.

Character I have been playing with for a bit. This isn’t the final. There are some technical effects I am trying to create with the instrument and the pose may get tweaked, but I wanted to see how I could get it to look at this point before I finished it up. He’s also singing, so I might try to make that another effect.

That guy’s fingers are a trip! Very imaginative way of picturing what skilled alien hands might be like!
I like this image alot so far, cannot wait to see it when its completed!

there’s some pretty crazy things going on with this one. i really like the hands and clothing.
i think a slight tilt of the head or a bend on the neck to either side would help the general pose to read clearer.

Thanks guys.

Yes, the head is still centered for modeling purposes. The instrument is also centered (on the Z axis) for the same reason. These will change for the final pose.

man I like this… you’ve got that groovyness …!

OK, here’s the final on this. All rendered in Keyshot. Background created in Photoshop.

Straight out of Keyshot – no texture maps, no background

OH MY GOD! that is really nice model ! I suggst you to render it in some less saturated version, the texturing and rendering just doesnt work with that modeling. MAybe something more moody, more monochromatic would look nice

This was my Halloween Ecard.
I’m re-posting with renders done without texture maps. Only the front 2/3rds of the character has detail as it was done for a single shot still image.

Great Design!

Alien Concept WIP update:

I am pretty close to done with surface detail. I added details to the costume and some to the head. Maybe a little more detail work to do on the frills around the mouth, then maybe some texture maps and final images.
