beautiful render of a great portrait…this makes me wish to try what cycles is you mention. need find out what it is… amazing result.
Thanks chalkman, I prefer the cycles render for many many reasons. It shows sculpting as it really is. Lighting.
@skaale, thanks, not zb matcap export. No need for this. Cycles makes beautiful materials. What you noticed is mask by cavity, painting. A much better way. And a very fast actually.
@ zber2, thanks, blender foundation is sitting on a gold mine now, I think so. Cycles! Not fully optimized yet but I was able to render this at 2000 px in 2 minutes. A physically correct render engine!
@kokpro. thank you, if you get involved, ask me for some help. Cycles looks complicated but it isn’t really. The nodal system is the best around.
ha, thanks, at some point i might do that… i just have downloaded blender, and opened it,and, ???.. yes this is my very first reaction… but, your image gives me inspiration enough to find out how blender wants to be dealt with

Read some of these first, a few hours, not more.
And most important, download the latest build, not the official one.

Hi Michalis.
Don’t know what you are doing, but whatever it is,…it sure looks like you are doing it right.:D…Looks like a real life sculpture to my eyes…Great job,…and Great Sculpture.

thanks michalis… that would be indeed the first time i would read something like a manual:o … anyway, i already managed to import my young mans head and make a basic render that actually shows the head …lol… thanks for the links, i will now explore, and get back to you with probably lots of questions boy, i am excited to make so nice renders … in future…
@kokoro, lol, I have a talent to torture people. Ask mealea
@SD, thanks. I know what I’m doing with all these technical issues. Always. But, about art, …
Trying for a more primitive art, against perfection, abstract composition against anatomy knowledge. To be myself, if this is ever possible.
Just posting because it’s my first 10 mins try on new zb build.
In ten mins, not even engaged an sss shader (wax only)
It can be exported as ~40 K mesh.
Looks nice!
Thanks Bas.
A very useful tool for illustrators.
But I’m also impressed by the quality of cavity and AO masks.
Still trying to understand how the instances work
The end of 2.5 d ?
Playing with fibers and UVs
very cool my friend.
Nice experiments and explorations Michalis……Always an Inspiration…:)
Glenn
Thanks 3xtigy, SD.
Not experiments, just my nightmares.
Unable to produce beauty, just experiencing some kind of peace on shapes, curves, lines, scale, on my nightmares mostly. This only I can do. Not a talented man for sure.
The last few images are really nice!
Thank you yusefkerr.
Still trying to figure out what’s happening with fibers/UVs. On the tip area is there a UV problem?
Visible on the last image I posted. Here, an export to blender/cycles, to demonstrate the problem.

Another fast study on grass textures.
I really like your Giger style one above, would make great Predator hair
Arran
Thanks Arran J Lewis,
But have a closer look on the tips. I opened these fibers UVs on an editor and the tip area is wrong placed/unfolded. Quite unpractical and difficult to edit them.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or a limitation. Pity, because we can apply some textures as bumps and have impressive results easily.
just wondering, why you want to use uv’s with fibremesh?..
i would suggest to create such tentacle-things mainly with the tube-brushes…
anyway, nice test!
