The Sin Eater (WIP)

Hey Panstar!

Looking really good so far - I think the face texture is awesome so far!

By the way, thanks for the link - the Flickr web page is nicely designed, some of the pics have different sizes available too! The link (view FlickR photo page) does seem to work for me (I’m using Firefox, if that makes any difference).

Thanks again, and keep it up with the updates!

Jit.

Thanks for the feedback.

XxDarkMessiahxX : thanks for the comments on the teeth, and i agree they still need a bit of work and started darkening between the teeth yesterday.

jit_gohil: Gladf you liked the links, and thanks for the comments on the skin Texture, once I’m fully happy with the form, I’ll put a deeper effort into the texture.

I’m currently adding more skin folds around the the neck and given him a double chin. Which is working really well. Will post updates later today.

Hi here are the updates, I said I’d post worked more on the body texturing, adding skin folds around neck and pulked shoulders and breastplate out a bit more.

Worked more on the eye, and added earhole as if the ear has been severed.

The neck fat is looking good. The face is reminds me of Nemesis from Resident Evil.

oh wow! Good spotting, completey unintentional. I know the game but not the character. And your right, there is a close similarity. The stich even, falls over the same eye and held together with staples.

Oh hum, and I deliberatly stayed a away from looking at horror images for referance, in order to come up with somthing a bit origanal. At the begining of this thread, I mentioned about having Cenobites, in mind but have refrained from looking images up, and relide on my memmory of them, just lead me down the Clive Barker, mindeset. And it’s been nearly 10 years since I’ve seen Hellraiser.

Oh well. I’ll have to think right out of the box for the others:D

thanks for that anyway.

Sorry if I kinda crushed your spirits at all. It was unintentional. I think your model has its own style to it though. I can kinda see the Hellraiser thing in there a little, but its still unique in its own way. Keep up the good work. The details are coming along good.

XxDarkMessiahxX: No worries mate, you didn’t crush my spirits. In fact I found it funny that no matter what you do to be a bit original. You soon learn that an idea is already in the eather.

Hey a friend and I once wrote a country & Western song, spure of the moment to sing whilst drunk in a pub. 2 years later Bruce Springsteen, releasing a song, same rythem and almost word for word. A Damn shame we didn’t take it seriously and copywrite it! Lol

And I’m pleased with the way this character, is turning out being my first full figure. I’ve learnt a lot, and there are probrably different roots I’ll take on the next one.

Anyway I’ve now started modeling the host for the stomach, to more detail will post the updates, either tonight or tomorow.

Thanks

Sorry for the poor image quality, ZB Crashed before i could save a render, and had to screen grab this before it dissapreared.

Will post full next.

Hi All

Well I’ve been working over this building the backdrop, and playing with lighting. to get some Atmosphere going. There are area’s I am pleased with like the gore around the stomach and the way the light catches it. and then theres area’s where I want some illumination, like around the main forground tentacles body, to stop it looking flat. So I will continue playing.

I’m also thinking about doubling the Res. again, as to me the head loosses detail and seems blured. What do you peeps think?

All comments and crits welcome thanks

oh dear, im gonna have nightmares tonight
looks good, but i think the lighting needs work. Id go for more contrast between the back wall and that thing. Also the light now comes from the stomach which is a bit weird as there is no source

What type of alpha did you use for the jaw muscles? I think they look great!

Thanks Erklaerbar & Womball glad you like it. Sorry for any Nightmares Erklaerbar.

Erklaerbar: yes I agree, the lighting needs to be payed with more. The main light source is central just above and in front of his head, using a point light. I was planning on having a light fitting hanging there. but though it would be to low for the scene and probrably wouldn’t fit in right. I’ll post some other examples of light set ups. later

Womball: thanks for your comments. All the muscle work is hand drawn using Decore brush and relying on referencence from google.

Thanks again

Did you looks up pictures of meat? Or found actual live human muscles? Are there pictures of people being skinned alive online? I will have to look that up. :o

Hi Womball, I typed in lower jaw muscle anatomy, and thatr gave a good seection.

BTW, if mudbox can do this, I’d be surprised… who cares, since they have yet to go past beta? LOL

Lookin good. It could use a bit more gore around the stomach opening, to give it that “bursting” effect. I especially like the reference images posted on the wall in the background. Nice touch.

You would actually be suprised to see what short movies and links my friends were sending me :expressionless:

I remember ten years ago (ennyone remember the Peace baby in the womb?) that some top dawgs were literally putting steak on their scanners with good results. LOL

ONE thing to note is that surgical-- REAL anatomy – has LOTS of fat showing. 'Course its mostly red anyway, but one would do well to attempt making things look wetter… an thats mebbe from a redclearcoat.

just my .02-- here’s a cross-eyed stereo I painted awhile back–
Wait’ll we get ZB’d!

The peace womb baby was created by a guy called Jeremy Birn. He has a really great book on lighting called “Digital Lighting and Rendering”

I wondered what his name wuz---- we had a coupla emails back then— 95-96? Back in my Soft dayze. I’ll search for that book, too.
