The Hun (WIP)

hyper1: I’m thinking on a heroic scene but my primary task is modell and texture this character. If i have enough time I will make a pose for the turntable video. I used renderman for maya for theese renders.

Your skin paint job is fantastic! You might want to lower or adjust your gloss/specular settings for both your eyes and skin. There is a new face in the top row this morning that looks good in those areas to check out. Your character’s mustashe is dead bang perfect!

Wow, this is really going some where, I can’t wait to see the final product. Excellent skin texturing on the last render, and I love the moustache also, well done! :+1: :sunglasses: :+1:

Thx the replys! Here is a little update. I’ve just finished his body shield and fixed the eye and face specular problem (thx hyper1!).

Yes! The new zaplink was very usefull especially when I made his face texture.

I’d love to see that helmet’s metallic texture rendered on a simple sphere… might make a good ZBrush matcap material!

KrakenCMT: I’ve rendered a simple sphere with the helmet shader as you ask

mphilip: I used a simple blinn shader (in maya) with a Zbrush generated displacement map a reflection map and a painted specular map. Here are the wires and the shader network:

Hi and great work, I love the texturing and shading you applied to this. Question though, being not so experienced yet with Maya, can I ask what the EnvBall1 and contrast parts of the shader network do and about its application? I would be interested in achieving similar effects with armor in my project and that’s why I ask as it could be useful and as I use Mental Ray also.

Your attention to detail on this is inspiring. Really beautiful work.

Darukin: I often use envball node on Reflection color chanel. This is like a big sphere with a panoramic photo texture but if you use it, you can create diference (fake)reflections every part of your modell. The contrast node is a simple contrast like the levels in photoshop. It allows you to change the contrast level on your loaded textures (very usefull).

I’ve made a simple setup and posed the caracter. This is a final render with some post effects :slight_smile: I hope you like it.
