The fall of Icarus

Long time no post, but I’m always watching the talent flow around here. This was
done using the invaluable Meats wire method.Still getting mileage out of it.Thanks Meats.Poser model used…pure laziness.the-fall-of-icarus.jpg

For work this abstract, I don’t think it’s lazy at all. You’re using the human form as a primitive, no different from a sphere or a cube. Your composition bears little resemblance to it’s origin… Why sculpt something only to deconstruct it so completely? That would be a waste of time if you have any other options.

If it were a portrait, there might be controversy. But it’s not, and there isn’t.

(great job, by the way. very moving!)

its amazin… its art :] good luck

im a huge fan of computer made abstract images… and i have to say… wow

It’s a shame you lads were’nt at the show with your visa/mastercards (Barclaycard) lol s.jpg

It’s a shame you guys were’nt there with your visa/mastercards (Barclay card)

lol

Really NICE!!! PLEASE post the other pic you are standing next to 8-).

What I personally do not like is the ‘fairy’ Poser world… But that’s my personal pref.

I agree with CTRL-Z and think it’s the perfect use of a primitive. If one would have to refrain from this usage no sphere or cube may be drawn and all vertices have to be moved into place manually by entering the location in binary notation with on off switches on an old CPU panel while the coordinates of the model will be updated on line printers :D:laughing:small_orange_diamond:roll_eyes:.

I love to use Poser once in a while for posing and for ‘spare parts’ and for People standing/sitting in Architecture.

You’re not lazy!

This is one of very few images that I’ve seen, where someone used Poser and it didn’t look like Poser. Most of the Poser stuff out there is crap in my opinion, but you’ve utilized it for a completly stylistic, graceful piece of work.

Like Ctrl-Z said “You’re using the human form as a primitive, no different from a sphere or a cube.”

Beautiful work!!!

By the way, how much were you selling each piece for?

[color=yellow]They are all giclees on fine art paper(really nice prints)I have a potential buyer for Icarus @ $1800 framed.I sold 6 16x20 matted pieces for $75 at the opening.
It was a cool experience all round…first show. It’s a great exercise to take these half baked ideas that are collecting dust on the harddrive, bring them to completion and throw them out there.

excellent.

Funny, I was draging a print (Canon S9000) 13x19 to a framer today and I have to go there again as I sold my print to him hahahaha. It seems that the acceptance of CG Art is growing.

Did you print that CMYK or did the printer have a greater color gamut?

Icarus has always been a favorite topic of mine, and I think you have added to my appreciation of the subject. thanks.

Very interesting work murray.
Again, I really like abstract work and encourage artists to create it where ever I can. The world what you create is very emotional, special and original.
Best luck, this is definitaly top row material.

simply amazing…

yay, murray, this is exactly the art I like… FUNtastico:+1: :+1: :sunglasses:

I was thinking more of Dali ,then of Meats -wire’s ,when i saw your work,…and the prints look good !..did you had to do a lot of post-production before you could print them !?
