The Day The Earth Stood Still----FINISHED!

Okay, aminuts, you got me started on this. I’m going to attempt a scene from 'The Day The Earth Stood Still, I started on Gort and restarted on Gort, then took a break to do the saucer. Please don’t check me for accuracy. It was box modeled. I may have bitten off more than I can chew and this may be the last you see of this WIP, . Well, I’ll give it a try, there sure is enough inspiration around right now. 50.

Klaatu barada nikto!!

Hi punchatz, I should have used that for the title of my post. 50.

Stay with it 50. This ought to be a lot of fun to view :+1:

Some drama indeed  (remark the red shoes of the poor young women
Pilou

Cool 50’s Kid…it looks great so far! Just like the one in my memory of the movie!! I hope you don’t get too frustrated!!

Am looking forward to your next update!!

or in the event you should cast poor gort to the wind I look forward to your next amazing picture of whatever.

Hi filiment, thanks for the encouragment, .

Hi, Pilou, you gave me an idea to maybe do a movie poster version.

Hi aminuts, I found some nice photos on the web. I’m playing around with the big guy. I’m not sure how to do the head , yet. It’s basically round with a flat yet round face and jaw. I’m trying box modeling right now. Might try some alpha-inflating for the visor, but I want it to be partially open for the death ray.

I have about 6 inches of snow outside which is supposed to continue all day to a possible 15, so I might have the day off  . Later, 50.

You lucky snow people…pffft.
“We want the bot”.
“We want the bot”.
“We want…”

Going to look good and surprise me in the end I am sure. Once again, I have enjoyed the pictures you have posted lately. Keep up the good work 50’s :+1:

I definitively love this style!

you must be in iowa or wisconsin, here in chicago we are only supposed to get 12.

All the schools are closed but no such luck for me and work! In an hour I will get to drive in this crap.

I hope you have it off!!

Finaly the robot you promised…a long time ago;)

jantim

Hi Sebcesoir, thanks.

Hi aminuts, I’m in good old Nebraska and we’re waiting for the rest to fall this afternoon-tonight.

Hi jantim, yes the robot’s coming, and I took the day off.

Here is a little sneak peek. I surprised myself. Low poly modeled. I tried to post earlier but couldn’t get the picture to insert. Trying again. See ya. 50.

LITTLE GORT.jpg

HAHA! Yeah! Cool!
Do you plan to make a 3d movie? Or 2d comic?
2d comic would be great!

Hi, Sebcesoir, I’m leaning towards a fake Lobby Card or Movie Poster. I’d love to go out to a ball field and snap a picture for a background plate, but that won’t work with the snow. Rats. 50.

I love it. Ahhh, the memories of my wayward youth and a black and white television. Not to mention my Grandma yelling, ‘What’s that trash?’, ‘It’ll rot your mind!’.

Hi Five Oh,

Nice start! You seem to be channeling our communal midwestern childhoods.

I remember seeing this and all the other SciFi classics that passed through our one-horse local theatre, shown as fifty-cent, double feature, Saturday matinees. Klaatu (Michael Rennie) and Gort were truly spooky.

One box of jujubes please and a large box of popcorn, extra butter!

Sven

PS. one of my all-time big thrills was meeting Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) at a party here in NY in the mid Seventies. Turned me into a kid all over again.

Hi Jason, I lived for Saturday night’s Creature Feature, hosted by Omaha’s Dr. San Guinary. He had green make-up, wore a blood-stained smock and had a friend who was a hairy hand. They had to be carefull not to knock over the sets. We used to wrap aluminum foil around the antanae so we could get in Souix City’s Sci-Fi movies, too.

Hi Sven, I was always at the Saturday Matinees at the Home Theatre, I think I ate Milk Duds. What a time to be a kid. How neat to have met McCarthy, I wonder if he is still alive. There is a man named ‘Bruce Crawford’ who arranges Movie Events in Omaha and brings in Hollywood Directors and Actors. That’s quite a thrill for us secluded Midwesterners.
