This thread just keeps getting better I love the squid pendant, it has turned out really great. I still don’t understand what “spruel” and “grow” means, but I’m enjoying reading this thread and getting the updates anyway, just to watch your work.

Those turned out amazing.:+1:

I’d like to make my first forum post in your awesome thread!
I’ll echo what many have said here, your work is not only ispirational but the willingness to share all your steps and answer so many questions is refreshing.

Thank you very much!

Point, Dman3d, Rusti - Thanks a lot guys I do appreciate it. I have some new pieces I’ll be working on getting done soon.
Wasps and persimmons, Tonto sayas, as well as some Masonic Regalia.

As far as answering questions I feel we become a stronger community by sharing our knowledge. I know I learn something new everyday I come here.

And how lucky are we to be part of a program community that is always trying to better it self and keep up on the new demands of the program. How often do developers expect us to change to there ideas as opposed to them considering the future and our input to make their product better for us.

I was lucky enough to be involved in the early versions of the new pluging and there are not words that can explain how they have made my life better.

I love this place and these guys.

so anything i can do to make it better I’m in.

So awesome…makes me want a 3d printer of my own, and a jewelry shop…

That is truely awesome work, I love the squid piece.

I agree with jaystein I wish I had a printer to see something in 3d would be the conclusion to all the hard work done in ZB.

Anyway well done great pieces and designs :+1:

Wow! Amazing stuff as always, sir!:+1:

Hey T.S Wittlesbach - fantastic stuff. Very cool to see.

Ryan

jaystein777 - Thank you & I must agree I would kill for a printer but I need a VERY EXPENSIVE one if I want it to produce my pieces. I have a mill now but it does a wonderful job, size is the only issue with that.

scottleroc - thank you very much - I have some more cephlopods coming soon. octopuses ring as cell as cuttlefish. And i must admit being able to hold the pieces in hand after working on them, then being able to readjust is a great thing.

anandpg - thank you …

ryankingslien - Thank you very much. coming from such a talented group of artist is wonderfully edifying.

and thank you Ryan your disk was very helpful and educational. I’m a bit of a simpleton when it comes to the technical end of this program or any other for that matter. I’m just a sculptor who has had his eyes open to the future. and with out the input and help from you guys I would never have been able to make this transition.

must shout out to david krentz here as well lol
I’ll have something for you to look at very soon.

so Thank you again.

Tomas

these are great, nice to see your work. would love to see the Art Of book from you, soon.

Hey Thomas,
your work is awesome, first I saw some of your pieces on Matrix forum and now I found you here. Do you skulpt everything in Zbrush or partly in Matrix?
I’m learning to skulpt in Artcam now, I have some progress but Artcam is limited to 2d, I’d love to learn to skulpt like you, your work is really inspiring
regards
Alex
p.s. I have a jewelry shop and store in NJ, where are you?

How do you insure that your zBrush model is the correct size for 3D printing / final use? I use ring size 10 (19.8mm diameter, 62.2mm circumference). How do I create a base ring model that is this dimension within Zbrush?

Or, if you resize your model in another program, how do you know if your zBrush model has the correct resolution?

I will be using 3D printing, not milling, so there may be a resolution difference?

Can I use another CAD program to create the correct dimensions and then import that object into zBrush? Is there a way to just zoom in/out camera in Zbrush rather then scale the model, which would be bad!

thanks

All I have to say to you sir is MORE  I love that ring with the red enamel!

hausnfranz you can make the right size ring in Rhino then export it in obj into Zbrush and finish it, I just began using zbrush and I find it very easy to work in between two programs, some parts I even make in Artcam. Zbrush resolution is higher than rhino, but you can adjust obj resolution after you export it from rhino

I love this thread !
When I will grow older I want to be you !

firstly thanks guys the kind words do mean a lot comming from the talent around here.

point- sorry i missed the question. sprewing is where you put flow points for the metal during casting. growing is 3d printing.

threetails- I think you may be the only one… lol I’m not sure how much there is to be gained what I do. if you saw my process you would probally laugh. I think I use two functions of the program. I can barly change the materials lmao. one day I may learn how to render so every thing isnt in redclay… but thank you.

alfedo - I use modo to do all my block up, sometimes I use matrix that early in the process it’s use of multi profile sweeps I cant do anywhere else. I then go to zbrush do all my sculpting. then to matrix(“matrix = rhino” for those who dont know matrix is just an insainly expensive jewelry plug in for rhino. dont get me wrong matrix is invaluable to me and worht every penny) so in matrix I do all my sizing stone setting etc… and I build my milling paths there as well, as I own one of there Revo mills. at the moment i’m still in wisconsin with my mother. her husband died 3 years ago so I moved here to be with her and help her adjust to the change and loss. thank you, I’ve been a sculptor for my entire life it’s all I’m good at. and the transition to digital sculpting has been an exciting and humbling experiance.

hausnfranz - I do all my scaling in Matrix(rhino) I have no idea if zbrush has any kind of true scale. when I inport the models into matrix they are usually under 1mm in scale. I just inlarge them to the size I need. but I would sugest using a program that is scale oriented. the nice thing about matriix is it has all the true jewelry scales in it. ring and stone sizes and shapes. no guessing.

Intervain - thak you again sir. I know i love that thing it’s huge lol someone will be fabulous enough the pull it off… other than me, lmao

gpepper - thank a million, but one piece of advice… aim higher than that trust me, I rock but you could do better

here are a few other pics of new pieces.
thanks again for the support

I really like all works…The latest 2 pieces are very nice indeed. The church ring is amazing, the details, ive never seen a ring like that…The last pik the multi skull ring is wikked…It looks like it belongs to some vampire queen or a young vampire princess ring…Has a massive story too it just by looking at that ring…
Really nice works :).
