Surface noise alpha isnt matching with meshes UVs

Hi

im trying to bake down detail into my mesh using a height map that ive exported from Substance painter, using the surface/noise feature in zbrush.
Ive used this before using a tiling texture and it works a treat, however now im attempting to use the heightmap of a fully UVd object the alpha isnt matching up with the UVs no matter how much i tweak the scaling settings within the noise maker.

Im not quite sure what im doing wrong but wondered if anybody had any ideas?

many thanks for any help!
Nick

Hi @nickholl

If the UV’s were created outside of ZBrush, a common problem that occurs is that some of the UV islands are touching the border of the UV space. This causes problems within ZBrush. Make sure that this isn’t the case with your UV’s. Scale or move the islands away from the border if they are touching.

hi

thanks for your reply. The islands arent directly touching the side - although they’re quitie close - i always use padding…

im beginning to think the noise maker only works when you have a UV shell that is filling the 0-1 - is that right? :-/

Yes, I don’t think ZBrush supports UDIM UV’s at this time. Whether or not it’s on the horizon, only the developers can say. If you want a definite answer, you can submit a ticket to Support.

oh, sorry - what i meant was that im guessing it only supports 1 shell that tiles, rather than having lots of different shells spread over the 1 udim

Did you figure out a solution to your problem? I’m experiencing a very similar situation right now.
