Maybe I’ll share a breakdown of Mr.Rob-Bot next. Would you like that?
Of course we would like to see that!
Thank you for sharing your workflow!

nice stuff
cool stylization and the paint overs look pretty sweet
You Sir, are top row Sir!!
Much deserved say I. Your willingness to experiment I find most flavorsome.
What would the forum soup be without those that add pepper?!!
@jaysus : Thanks! I like those colors you’ve going on the skull with tentacles!
@boozy floozie : Thank you kind Sir! Indeed! An experiment a day[or more, :p] keeps the doctor away,
Well done Sudhan!!! well deserve this Top Row!!!
those are very interesting, love the rooster

For a time lapse of the whole process, go here!
And for the resources[basemesh, PSD, etc.] go here!
I’ll share a more detailed breakdown of this guy in the next post!

The brushy marks of the sculpting transfer most sympathetically with the treatment of the over paint. What started off as a crumpled piggy ended up splendiferous - and they say you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear?!!
My aging eyes had some trouble with the speed of the video’s photoshop work.It seems like you’re color tinting and grading , the shadow pass , the rim pass and perhaps selections derived from a normal map pass ?
The main thing is you know what you’re doing and you’re doing it very nicely.
I like the honesty of this video - an artist making marks and responding.
@boozy floozie: Thank you very much for the kind compliment! [Haha, he’s still a crumpled piggy in away, :p]
Yup! That’s precisely my comp workflow. I like to try out different things with color grading to see how far I can go before I break the image so to speak.
Ah, yup a timelapse alone could be a bit confusing though. I think for future videos I’ll add some commentary.
Haha, I figure things out as I go. But thank you again, It’s nice to know that the video was useful in some way,

1.First step, is a speed sculpt to get all the bigger shapes and elements in. Things are pretty messy at this point and that is cool. Happy accidents are awesome!
Next up is cleaning up, adding a bit of color and making sure everything I need symmetry for is taken of.
And then it’s onto posing! A ton of stuff to fix and clean after this,
After that I start messing around with BPR and filters to check shadow shapes and just to explore alternate looks. [I will admit I get carried away with this part at times, :p]
Next I send it over to keyshot, setup some lighting very quick, lock the camera, add a bunch of scene sets with different materials and hit Render! [And wait for bit, haha]
Onto Photoshop land. First order of business is color correction!
Comp in some lighting passes.
Now, add masks on all those material passes and paint them in/out as needed. [I sound like I’m talking on a morning cooking show, -.- lol]
Let the paintovers begin! ^^

[And let’s pick this up where we left off]
Taking a step back and feeling the whole thing looked too flat, I added in some purple haze to bring in some atmosphere.
And the floating orb/ecstasy didn’t feel quite right either, so I painted over that and did a bit of relighting to account for it.
Last step? Some lens effects like dirt, dust, chromatic aberration, vignetting all that good stuff!
And here’s a GIF to bring it all together! ^^
I’ll share the breakdown for “Metal Chomper” next week!

I promised I’d share a breakdown of this guy’s sculpt, so I’ve put together something for y’all before I share something new

This guy started as a speedsculpt for Halloween night 2016. I found the old files last week, so here he is!

Oh and the paintover process is over here on YouTube!
On the topic of process and behind the scenes stuff, here’s a little something as a thank you for all the support and love, The original files from my “Bushy Beard” illustration!
