Strange Skewing Issue

Hi

I’ve no idea if this is something fixed in the latest version as I don’t have access to that. I don’t think my university has the latest version installed yet. I’ve noticed this problem before and thought nothing of it, but this time it’s preventing me from positioning a SubTool into place. I’ve recorded a GIF of it. Once I’ve straightened the edges in the middle for this screw, every time I use the Move tool and move it up, the edges move and skew themselves. There’s no mask or anything applied and I’ve made sure to clear it of one. I’ve also tried adding creases, but it makes no difference. :-\

This is how skewed it becomes if I move it on the blue axis.

I’ve tried exporting it out, loading it into Maya, deleting the History, and freezing the transformations, and then taking it back into ZBrush, but no change.

Hi @DustyShinigami

That is because the Focal Shift slider now incorporates deformations when using the Gizmo 3D. Move the Focal Shift slider to -100 for normal transformations. If you use the Action Line for transforms, it is not affected by the Focal Shift slider.

Ahhh. Awesome. I had no idea about that. The Focal Shift slider was set to 0. Does that not disable it then? I’ve put it to -100 and that’s stopped it. :slight_smile:

Thank you

You never need Focal Shift anyway if you are just scaling, rotating or moving unless you want to use the deform function. As soon as you select a brush, Focal Shift will go back to 0.

Re-bumping this thread as I’m sort of experiencing the same problem again despite the Focal Shift being at -100 already. It happens to my hair card textures whenever I rotate or scale them. :-\

Is there any way of preventing that from happening?

Thanks

@DustyShinigami

You should start a new topic with this as I am the only one that replied to this post and will be the only one to see it. Bumping posts doesn’t work on this forum. Always start a new topic. Keep in mind that Spyndel is usually the only other one that replies here and it is the weekend and he doesn’t work weekends.

I just tried replicating this and I don’t have this issue, but I am on version 2022.0.8. Other than maybe a masking or UV problem or the resolution of the texture, I don’t know why it would do this.

Okay, I’ll start a new thread. :slight_smile:

I’m currently on version 2023.2.2. This is with a 2K texture, so I’ll give a 4K version a try and see. It’s possible I may only get the problem on my PC but not the laptop, too.
